Support Staff Full-time Appendix D Contract Position (May 2024 - May 15, 2025)

(First consideration for Support Staff and Academic positions will be given to internal applicants in accordance with the respective Collective Agreements)

**Responsibilities**:

- Supports the promotions process through ongoing review of student progression in the program
- Consults with faculty and the Chair to determine students’ academic standing as per academic policies and procedures
- Reviews academic records of potential graduates and proactively meets with students with outstanding graduation requirements
- Facilitates extensions, accommodations, and exam deferrals on behalf of the students when there are non-routine or complex circumstances
- Supports faculty with grade submissions, following up on missing grades to ensure academic records are complete
- Supports faculty and instructors with academic integrity concerns by providing information and guidance related to Conestoga and program academic processes
- Advises students about the transfer credit process and academic requirements using established policies, procedures and program promotion criteria
- Develops individualised plans for students that have approved accommodations, are repeating failed courses, have missing courses, are returning from a leave of absence (LOA), or entering the program with advanced standing /transfer credits, including facilitating the registration process
- Advises students on options when failing to meet course expectations and counsel students on the withdrawal or program change process
- Develops and present orientation and academic advising sessions for students
- Implements a proactive communication plan to support new and returning students from admission to graduation
- Attends and collaborates in faculty/coordinator meetings, promotions meetings and information sessions and fairs
- Researches and implements new processes to improve service delivery for applicants, students and faculty
- Manages program information for potential and current students available on the website and calendar

**Qualifications**:

- Three-year Diploma/Degree in Office Administration, Project Management, Education or a relevant field of study is required
- Minimum three years of experience providing supports or services to students in an educational environment is required
- Knowledge of the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) Standards
- Knowledge of computer database software (i.e., People Soft, D2L/A2L, etc.)
- Strong office administration skills
- Empathy, patience, tact, and desire to assist students from varying backgrounds with their academic and personal concerns
- Excellent problem solving, conflict resolution, communication, assessment, organization and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
