Administrative Full-time Replacement Position

The Senior Advisor, Regulatory will provide support as an expert in regulatory compliance and will participate actively in the implementation and maintenance of Conestoga's regulatory compliance program. The Senior Advisor will manage new projects and business initiatives in order to ensure that Conestoga complies with the applicable regulation and best practices. The Senior Advisor will also assist in directing strategic policy analysis and development of solutions to meet Conestoga’s strategic objectives as they relate to the higher education sector.

The successful candidate will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required. It is anticipated that this position will meet the needs of the department through a hybrid work arrangement with two days on-site, and three days remote.

Responsibilities:

Research and gain a thorough understanding of new proposed regulations to assess impact to Conestoga College Monitor the proposal of new rules and regulations and provide internal support in implementing new regulatory projects Review documentation provided by regulatory bodies both domestically and outside Canada, industry associations, legal and accounting firms Prepare presentations for senior leadership at least on a quarterly basis covering recent regulatory changes to provide direction/advice with respect to Conestoga's interpretation of current and proposed regulations and legislation Provide monthly summary for senior management of all regulatory initiatives Prepare position papers in respect of proposed changes to existing and possible new regulations Interact with internal and external stakeholders to resolve and work through issues at a detailed level Assist in directing strategic policy analysis and development of solutions to meet Conestoga’s strategic objectives as they relate to the higher education sector Manage new administrative policy/procedures development with key stakeholders Review and update current administrative policy/procedures with key stakeholders Work with cross functional teams and individual administrative departments to develop and maintain policies and procedures Provide subject matter expertise and strategic policy support, guidance, analysis and regulatory requirement advice for management Bring forth new and updated policy and procedures to Academic Forum and Academic Coordinating Committee (ACC) as required Assist in any risk-related issues as assigned by the Chief Risk Officer

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Public Policy and Administration, Political Science, Legal Studies, or a related field of study Minimum five years of practical work-related experience in a compliance, audit, policy and/or research role Strong understanding of the regulatory and/or compliance environment Experience working in a College/University or Broader Public Sector setting will be considered an asset Strong understanding of regulations (federal and provincial), legislation requirements, and compliance standards applicable to public Colleges in Ontario, including AODA
