Human Resources Generalist

Plaza Premium Group is currently recruiting for a Human Resources Generalist Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for the payroll and benefits administration, as well as supporting the full spectrum HR functions for PPG Canada. A key aspect of the role is staying connected with our employees and addressing questions and concerns.
**Position Description**:
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting the HR Manager in overseeing full spectrum HR functions for PPG Canada
- Providing day-to-day guidance and support to hotel leaders on all HR-related matters, including but not limited to recruitment, policy interpretation, conflict resolution, discipline procedures, team member motivation and engagement;
- Serving as an advocate for our employees and leaders, fostering positive employee relations and helping to provide a favorable workplace culture for continuous and effective employer-employee relations;
- Acting as a liaison between management and employees to facilitate effective upward and downward communication;
- Managing and Administering the ADP payroll system and ensuring that all information related to payroll, e.g. time & attendance, leave and overtime records are well recorded and accurate
- Resolving issues and queries from managers and employees as it relates to payroll; communicating with the payroll provider to establish that the process is in accordance with provisional and federal regulations, as well as company policies
- Maintaining records and compiling statistical reports concerning personnel-related data such as new hires, transfers, performance appraisals, absenteeism rates, and terminations
- Monitoring and maintaining the Group Benefits system including data management, documentation and compilation of data for analyses. Establishing and maintaining departmental records and reports; reconciling month end benefit accounts and administering the benefits for new hires
- Supporting the Human Resources Department in developing and executing HR strategies to enhance the overall efficiency of the HR department
- Participating in the development and implementation of policies and procedures
- Ensuring confidentiality is maintained with respect to all HR and payroll related data
- Assisting the HR Manager with handling grievances and conflicts between employees and implementing disciplinary procedures accordingly
- Serving as a role model for the organization's Culture drivers; breaking down the walls; thinking critically, speaking up and delivering with pride; inspiring through trust and leading by example
- Being visible and available to answer all employee HR related questions in a timely and efficient manner
- Coordinating the recruitment and selection process, including job postings, receiving and screening resumes, scheduling and conducting interviews, processing background checks, and conducting reference checks
- Planning and executing talent sourcing activities for recruitment purposes
- Coordinating the onboarding and orientation for newly hired employees
- Maintaining a continuous improvement mindset and working in conjunction with the Management team to improve and streamline HR processes and programs
- Participating in the Joint Health and Safety Committee; coordinating meetings, performing workplace inspections and hazard assessments
- Managing employee engagement initiatives such as company event planning and creating initiatives for employee retention and increased morale
- Representing Plaza Premium Group’s interests in the community to the benefit of the company through involvement in community organizations;
- Assisting in ad-hoc assignments and projects as assigned
**What we are looking for**:
- 5+ years’ experience in HR, preferably within Hospitality or similar
- CHRP/CHRL or working towards the designation
- Relevant experience gained from a sizable organization and fast paced environment
- Experience working in a unionized environment is an asset Independent, Critical thinker, proactive, responsible, result-oriented and detail-minded
- Exemplary relationship-building aptitude
- Flexible, exceptionally well organized and detail orientated
- Knowledge of Payroll processing programs and standard processing procedures;
- Knowledge of employment standards legislation and legal requirements (Employment Standards Act);
- Sound knowledge of Health and Safety practices;
**Conditions of employment**:
- Ability to travel as required (limited requirement);
- Ability to work varying hours/days if required;
- Valid CPIC clearance (Criminal Records check) and/or Vulnerable Sector Check;
- Reference Check
- Current, valid Ontario Driver’s License and safe driving record;
