What you will do...
**Sales and Marketing**:

- Create and implement a business development plan to generate new business opportunities.
- Complete risk assessments over the phone and by visiting clients in person to obtain the appropriate information to complete accurate insurance quotes.
- Manage renewal process by gathering required information, cross selling, account rounding and presenting renewals as required.
- Request referrals from existing clients to help grow the book of business.
- Promote the company brand and services/products offered to customers.
- Participate in networking events to promote Heartland and the services you provide as an insurance agent.
- Utilize Heartland’s industry leading technology to efficiently distribute our insurance product offerings.
- You will create new business opportunities using developed networks and build a sales pipeline to meet and exceed sales goals.
- You will service a portfolio of Auto, Home, Commercial and Farm insurance business requiring a proven underwriting ability and a dedication to customer service perfection.
- You will provide the best possible protection for policyholders by advising them to make informed choices and answering product questions.

**Portfolio Management**:

- Working within defined limits of authority, consistently provide high quality decisions that support the achievement of Heartland’s financial targets in accordance with the Operational Plan.
- Participate in or provide training and development initiatives to constantly enhance the quality of decision making and risk selection.
- Manage a renewal portfolio of assigned clients and coordinating the discussion of renewal strategy with your support staff (Agency Administrator) and underwriting. Visiting risks in person when required.
- Work with Agent support staff to review renewals, endorsements, cancellations, payment notices ensuring accurate processing of policy documentation.
- Complete building evaluations using either RCT, Douglas Cost Guide, CoreLogic.
- Accurately maintain and update client database as required.
- Analyzing client coverages, exposures and loss experience, to determine risk requirements.
- Keep current on underwriting rules and workflow processes.
- Handling routine inquiries (Respond to inquiries from clients and Underwriting).

**Customer Experience**:

- Providing exceptional and prompt service to clients, Agency Administrators and Underwriters.
- Demonstrate Heartland’s value proposition of exemplary customer experience through the ongoing development of relationships with key stakeholders.
- Develop strong customer relationships through personal accountability and high-quality decision making.

What you will bring...
- Completion of OSSD. Post-secondary education is preferred.
- 5+ years of P&C Insurance experience in either a sales or underwriting role.
- Ability to analyze the risk needs of farm, commercial, personal property and auto risks.
- Very strong communication, sales and customer service skills.
- Initiative and ability to work independently and under pressure.
- OTL Agent License or RIBO Broker License an asset or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire (assistance provided).
- Completion of CIP, CRM or working towards completion is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with PowerBroker or other Industry Management systems is an asset.
