The South Markham Community Action Table (SMCAT) is co-led by Agincourt Community Services Association (ACSA) and Social Services Network (SSN). ACSA is a non-profit, multi-service agency addressing needs and empowering children, youth, newcomers, homeless, and otherwise underserved communities. Social Services Network (SSN) delivers programs and services to older adults and seniors. As a not-for-profit organization, SSN’s objective is to create an inclusive society where the dignity of our aging population is maintained through promotion of independence, social inclusion, and volunteerism. The position will be hired through ACSA, as ACSA is the current contract holder for the South Markham CAT project.

**About the Project**

Community Action Tables (CATs) are community-driven, collaborative tables that will inform the Community Safety and Well-Being plan for York region. CATs are comprised of a broad range of stakeholders that focus on local engagement to address Mental Health and Mental Well-Being and Housing Stability. South Markham CAT’s H.O.M.E. (Housing Opportunities Modelling Empowerment) Project is a localized solutions-based approach to build resident capacity surrounding housing stability and supports. Through this project, SMCAT will examine service pathways to better understand and address barriers surrounding housing stability and create opportunities for tenant-led initiatives and resident-led capacity building.

**Summary of Job Functions**

We are seeking a dynamic individual who can support the work and initiatives of the South-Central Markham Community Action Table (SMCAT) and the H.O.M.E. Project. Through local engagement, the H.O.M.E. Project Community Ambassador will work closely with SMCAT staff to make connections with residents and stakeholders to better connect with South Markham communities around survey collection, resource sharing and opportunities in and around Housing Stability. This work involves initiating and supporting activities, events and platforms where residents and community members naturally gather (I.e. school committees, advocacy clubs, youth groups, libraries, places of worship, programs, etc.) using community engagement and outreach tools and methods (I.e. in-person or Zoom meetings, consultations, surveys, social media, etc.

**Duties Include**:

- Work collaboratively with the SMCAT Project Coordinator, SMCAT team, Community Action Table and sub-committees to implement project initiatives and meet project objectives.
- Engage and outreach to local residents, community leaders and grassroots groups in the South-Central Markham neighbourhoods to facilitate data collection, community networking and sharing of resources and knowledge to advance the H.O.M.E. Project goals and objectives.
- Facilitate ongoing conversations/meetings/interactions with community members, leaders and stakeholders to uncover grassroots initiatives and local opportunities, and support the documentation of these interactions (I.e. meeting minutes, photographs, videos, testimonials, etc.)
- Support the organization and coordination meetings, workshops, and events related to the H.O.M.E. Project.
- Support the development and implementation of tenant-led initiatives and resident-led capacity building activities that focus on housing stability and supports.
- Work with the SMCAT Project Coordinator to develop and implement outreach strategies to engage residents and other stakeholders in the H.O.M.E. Project activities.
- Disseminate a tool which surveys residents experiences with housing, and support coordination of translated versions of this tool to be disseminated as well.
- Collect information and organize a database of the South-Central Markham’s community-led events and opportunities related to housing stability, barriers, and opportunities in South Markham to inform the H.O.M.E. Project and to inform a service navigation tool.
- Work with Graphic Designer and translators to create a service navigation tool to support the dissemination of learnings/resources gathered from the H.O.M.E. Project.
- Support the SMCAT Project Coordinator to prepare reports, presentations, and other materials to communicate the H.O.M.E. Project progress and outcomes to stakeholders and partners.
- Protect own health and the health of others by adopting safe work practices in-office and in the community, and reporting unsafe conditions immediately; follow all guidelines for employees and employers as legislated under the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act
