We are currently looking to hire a:
**Community Outreach Worker - Health Ambassador**

4 Full time Contract positions (35 hours/ week) (Until July 31st 2023)

**Reporting To**:Interim Manager Special Projects

**P* **osition Summary:*

Newcomer Communities. Familiarity and lived experience with these spaces and populations is an assets.
- **Key areas of responsibility**:

- **Organize community-sharing sessions to learn more about resident needs and concerns**:

- Inform and educate community members on community resources and supports available to
- youth, caregivers, parents and guardians.
- Support community training on violence prevention
- Distribute resources through tabling sessions/events, and presentations at local
- community venues, religious venues and businesses.
- Dispel culturally specific myths/misinformation through culturally and language specific
- education and information sessions.
- Promote and educate parents, guardians, caregivers, family members and communities at
- risk factors for youth involvement in violence.
- Complete weekly reports and provide feedback on engagement tactics and emerging issues
- Refer community members to appropriate resources and supports within the community.
- Perform other duties as assigned that are reasonable within the scope of the job.

**Educational and/or Professional Qualifications**:

- Excellent communication and presentation skills to clearly convey information in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain messaging.
- Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in English and a second language
- **Demonstrate a strong interest in making an impact in the community through service, leadership, and education**:

- A high degree of conflict resolution using appropriate interpersonal styles and methods to reduce tension or conflict.
- Sensitivity to people from different socio-economic backgrounds
- De-escalation training or crisis intervention training is considered an asset
- Self-directed, with a positive attitude and able to work independently or with a team.
- Flexible with the ability to prioritize and multi-task
- Familiarity with and sensitivity to the cultural and socioeconomic issues within the newcomer community of Scarborough is considered an asset

**Significant Working Conditions**:

- Ability to work flexible hours including on-call tele-practice rotations evenings and weekends
- Ability to travel across Scarborough to a variety of care settings
- Valid driver’s license and access to car considered a significant asset

**Remuneration**:$21.74- $24.59

**Band**: I
