**Program Coordinator, Special Projects - Community Violence Mapping**

**1 - Full-Time Contract Position (35 hours per week) until June 6, 2025**

**Reporting To**:Manager, Community Wellness & Engagement

**Purpose**:

- **SafeTO Mapping Prevention Model**_

As part of SafeTO: The City’s Ten-Year Safety and Well-being Plan, the Building Safer Community Fund will enhance the City of Toronto’s efforts to reduce gun and gang violence by supporting agencies ensuring that the needs of the communities are met.

To reduce Child and Youth Violence: The project focuses on leveraging community-based research methods to collect and share data aimed at reducing child and youth violence. Through a collaborative approach, the project will work alongside project staff in existing and emerging community violence and safety projects with the City of Toronto, Scarborough Centre for Healthy Communities, Impact’ n Communities and other community agencies to gather essential insights into the root causes and dynamics of violence affecting young people. Two key strategies will be employed: Mapping Community Assets for Violence Prevention and Mapping System Collaboration for Violence Prevention.

Mapping Community Assets for Violence Prevention will involve identifying and documenting the resources, programs, and organizations within the community that contribute to violence prevention efforts. By mapping these assets, the project will highlight existing strengths and gaps in the community's capacity to address youth violence effectively. Mapping System Collaboration for Violence Prevention will focus on understanding the collaborative networks and partnerships among various stakeholders involved in violence prevention, including government agencies, non-profit organizations, schools, healthcare providers, law enforcement, and community leaders.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

- Develop, coordinate, implement, deliver, and report on the Community Violence Mapping goals.
- Identify strategic approaches to increase awareness of service coordination for intended individuals and communities within the assigned district.
- Act as the primary liaison for their respective agency with the City of Toronto. Communicate with district City of Toronto Community Development Officers to consult and support the informing of district plans and trends/themes.
- Ability to inform “non-traditional” and culturally appropriate, community-based ways that are responsive to the needs of violence involved families and marginalized communities.
- Ability to connect with and highlight culturally appropriate prevention and intervention services, safety networks, resident leaders who support local community members through service coordination, youth violence education, cross community conflict and training supports, cultural and community education, mental health supports.
- To liaise, consult and collaborate with key stakeholders in the community: City services, Toronto Community Housing Corporation, Provincial Youth Outreach Workers, mental health and employment focused agencies and other service providers as required regarding the needs of gang involved families. Support Ambassadors with key stakeholder management.
- Amplify City messaging about the Safety Network and coordinate the development of content such as public service announcements, social media posts, animations, and videos.
- Ensure ongoing “peer to peer” community of practice for Safety Network Ambassadors to allow information sharing, decompression, and issues escalation (this will be hosted monthly with other members of Safety Network teams).
- Develop common evaluation tools to track service coordination (3 touch points) and implementation measures to ensure that programs are effective in increasing awareness, education and navigating systems.
- Research, evaluate and identify potential training providers appropriate to the deliverables.
- Identifies training and development needs within the organization through consultation and collaboration with internal and external resources.
- Coordinates multidisciplinary project teams, maintains professional relationships with other organizations and key partners.
