**A Day In The Life**

The Legal Assistant contributes to the efficient day-to-day operations by providing clerical and administrative support to a lawyer. This is done through exceptional practice management and client service, the ability to successfully handle competing priorities, and a high degree of confidentiality and discretion.

**Responsibilities include, but are not limited to**:

- Banking and commercial real estate transactions - drafting security and supporting/ancillary documents for commercial lending transactions, drafting documents for commercial real estate transactions, registering documents in the Land Title Office and Personal Property Registry, attending to the receipt and disbursement of trust funds
- Real Estate related due diligence searches and reporting
- Maintaining an efficient file management and bring forward system
- Ensuring all physical and electronic filing is organized and up to date on a regular basis
- Interacting with clients and coordinating meetings
- Delegating tasks to, and coordinating with, other administrative departments
- Other duties as assigned

**Qualifications**
- Legal Assistant or Paralegal Certificate from an accredited post secondary institution or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years of experience in a similar role
- Legal experience preferably in corporate commercial law with an emphasis on secured lending and real estate
- Strong technical skills using Microsoft Office 365 and Adobe
- Experience working with 3E, InTapp, iManage, DocuSign would be preferred

**Must Haves**
- Strong understanding of BC Land Title Office registration requirements and capability with e-filing
- Good working knowledge of real estate terminology, contracts and forms
- Good working skills with all applicable online data bases - BC Online, LTSA, municipal tax searches, etc.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Supremely organized with a high attention to detail
- Strong analytical and writing skills
- Good computer knowledge with common Real Estate related programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe
- Client Service mindset with a “can do” attitude

**Compensation**

The typical salary range for this position is $50,000 - $70,000 annually; the base pay offered is based on location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, internal and market equity.
