Are you committed to building understanding through truth-telling? Are you an experienced training and development professional? The City of Toronto's Indigenous Affairs Office is seeking a Training and Development Coordinator who will support learning solutions that will help staff in the Toronto Public Service advance the City's Reconciliation Action Plan. The role involves assessing, designing and developing learning solutions, in collaboration with Indigenous partners that will help learners acquire knowledge, skills, and competencies related to indigenous cultural safety and contemporary truths. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is driven by continuous improvement through enhancing education.

**What will you do?**
- Identifies training and development needs within the organization through consultation and collaboration with internal and external resources and partners, including Indigenous communities
- Co-ordinates with People & Equity and other City divisions and agencies to ensure the design & development of the corporate training strategy advances the City of Toronto’s Reconciliation Action Plan.
- Supports the development, implementation and evaluation of community driven co-curricular experiences, training, education, events and employee professional development.
- Delivers in-person/virtual training, in collaboration with Indigenous partners, to City staff that will broaden Toronto Public Service’s understanding of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis perspectives and cultures.
- Designs, develops and implements marketing strategies and develops proposals for external training initiatives and partnerships, including website and related training publications.
- Develops and implements plans for complex training projects, ensures contingencies, identifies problems and takes action.
- Utilizes a variety of training methodologies, techniques, concepts, learning tools and practices to ensure maximum effectiveness of training programs, catering to all learning styles.
- Supports and leads training facilitators/educators, providing work direction and technical/functional guidance, ensuring needs of learners are met.
- Stays abreast of new and developing adult education/training methods and practices, including connecting with other training and development professionals.
- Creates learning content for a variety of delivery methods including instructor led classroom training, eLearning, multimedia programs, WebEx virtual training and other computer-aided instructional technologies.

**What do you need to succeed?**
- Lived experience as a First Nations, Inuit or Métis person, and experience working with Indigenous Peoples, communities, and/or organizations.
- Post-secondary education in a professional discipline pertinent to the job function, including areas such as Indigenous governance, Indigenous studies, Indigenous social work/public health, human resources, adult learning, education, training and development, combined with relevant project management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in needs analysis and research in order to develop new training or improve existing training.
- Experience designing, developing, and delivering engaging training courses, programs and curricula (e.g., instructor-led in-class sessions, webinars, self-directed: e-learning, reference guides, readings, presentations, etc.), utilizing instructional design methodologies and adult education principles which support truth, justice and reconciliation.
- Experience working with First Nations, Inuit and Metis Peoples using trauma-informed approaches to learning, engagement, mediation, and facilitation.
- Knowledge of the principles of adult learning and best practices of instructional design.
- Experience working with diverse internal teams and external partners to deliver training & education needs to enhance Indigenous education in the Toronto Public Service.
- Project or event management experience including implementing multiple projects with conflicting deadlines, analyzing and evaluating projects, monitoring and tracking progress, and communication to partners, stakeholders and senior management.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, including attention to detail, ability to set priorities, ability to meet deadlines and ability to deal with conflicting priorities.
