This position is a part of the Association of the Academic Staff of the University of Alberta (AASUA).

In accordance with the Temporary Librarian, Administrative and Professional Staff (TLAPO) Agreement, this position offers a comprehensive benefits package found on our Benefits Overview page and annual salary range of $61,391 to $102,355. This position has an initial appointment of 12 months from the date of hire.

**Location - **Work will primarily take place at Enterprise Square. This role is a hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person.

The mission of the University of Alberta’s Office of Development is to promote and encourage philanthropy in support of the academic goals of the University of Alberta. The goal of Donor Relations is to ensure donors who support the University of Alberta feel connected, informed, valued, and respected. Through a collaborative and donor-centric approach, the Donor Relations team provides strategic advice, guidance, and support to the External Relations community by helping to build positive long-term relationships with donors and prospects. Key areas of expertise include accurate and timely gift acknowledgement, awards and endowment reporting, recognition, engagement and the development of impact reports.

**Position**

The Donor Relations Officer is responsible for providing strategic direction and management of programs that nurture and strengthen positive long-term relationships with donors that result in increased donor retention, enhanced donor affinity and assist in meeting the overall development goals of the university.

This maternity leave position will be responsible for ensuring that every donor gets thanked appropriately for their gifts to the University of Alberta. This entails conducting a detailed evaluation of the current acknowledgement processes across campus, reimaging the program to increase timeliness and effectiveness and creating meaningful acknowledgements for donors. This role will also be pivotal in ensuring that donors receive regular, accurate and relevant communication on the impact of giving, including the annual Donor Impact Report. The Donor Relations Officer will collaborate with colleagues across campus to provide processes, best practices and toolkits resulting in timely, accurate and relevant donor acknowledgements and communications.

**Duties**
- Leads, researches, develops, and implements the donor acknowledgement process.
- Leads the evaluation and redesign of the acknowledgement process at the central and faculty levels
- Writes strategic communications designed to acknowledge donors for their gifts in a way that is timely, personal, and meaningful. This includes crafting personal thank you letters, for signature by senior leaders as appropriate.
- Develops templates and best practices for thank you letters, cards and videos in particular for gifts at $100,000 and greater, those without an assigned faculty/unit, and/or planned gifts
- Leads the process to develop and implement attractive design and sincere thank you messages for online giving and charitable gift receipts, to be updated on a regular basis.
- Researches, sources and develops stories about the benefits and achievements enabled by donors to endowed and non-endowed funds. Ensures that the stories are inspiring and the content and focus is aligned with the overall goals of Development and the university.
- Collaborates with other Donor Relations and External Relations colleagues in the development and execution of programs and service

**Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree is required
- Strong organizational skills and demonstrated excellence in problem solving, superior attention to detail, and ability to coordinate multiple projects requiring close communication with staff to maintain high accuracy and productivity of team with minimum supervision
