**Organization Summary**

CMHA-Edmonton is a non-profit organization whose mission is to ensure that all people experience good mental health and well-being. We increase awareness and understanding of mental health, mental illness, recovery, and suicide prevention through education. We support the resilience and recovery of people in distress including those affected by mental illness or suicide by providing crisis intervention; safe, long-term and affordable housing; peer support; suicide grief and family support; information and referral support; and providing opportunities to improve your wellness.

**Job Summary**

Reporting to the Senior Director, External Relations, the Donor Relations Officer is an integral part of CMHA-Edmonton’s fundraising and stewardship activities as we work towards raising $1 million annually by 2025. This role manages a portfolio of current and prospective individual donors and companies that can support CMHA Edmonton at the $1,000 level annually and above.

**Job Duties and Responsibilities**

**Donor Relations (60%)**
- Help our donors achieve their philanthropic goals and ambitions through a relationship with our organization.
- Build a portfolio of 50-75 major donors and prospects with significant giving potential, and who give at the $1,000 level or above.
- Secure major gifts and planned gifts.
- Manage systems and software to track and cultivate donors and prospects, including our donor database, Raisers’ Edge NXT.
- Engage executive and board leadership in donor prospecting, solicitation, and stewardship.
- Acknowledge major donors through public and private recognition.
- Ensure all donors are thanked and recognized in a timely manner.
- Implement, track, and report progress on fundraising using specific metrics related to, but not limited to:

- Number of Donations
- Total amount of money raised
- Donor Retention
- New Donors

**Corporate Engagement (30%)**
- Actively seek out corporate partnerships that support the organization’s mission, philanthropic goals, and deliver value to the partner.
- Working with the Team Lead, Events, prepare sponsorship packages and make asks to support signature events, and steward event sponsors, ensuring our goals and commitments are met.
- Manage and develop a portfolio of 30-45 companies that can support CMHA Edmonton through sponsorship or donations (including employee and matching giving programs).

**Other Fundraising Activities (10%)**
- Provide creative direction and oversight towards signature fundraising events through working with key staff organizing roles such as the Team Lead, Events, and volunteer planning committees.
- Work with the Administrative Coordinator to ensure all donations are inputted and tax receipts and acknowledgement issued in a timely manner per organizational standards.
- Prepare cases for support, presentations, and other materials that support donor outreach and stewardship.

**Managerial and Administration**
- While the role does not directly supervise any roles, it will provide indirect supervision to the Administrative Coordinator’s fund development duties, and may supervise contractors, summer students or interns, or other temporary roles.
- Develop and manage event and initiative-specific budgets.
- Responsible for developing and implementing program operational and quality assurance plans.
- As a member of the organization’s management team, contribute to the overall strategic direction, stewardship, and management of CMHA Edmonton.

**Core Competencies and Responsibilities**
- Creates buy-in and excitement for events among staff, volunteers, and external stakeholders.
- Identifies strategic opportunities to increase fundraising.
- Draws on market research, demographic data, and other sources to identify trends, opportunities, and risks to CMHA Edmonton’s fundraising program.
- Works with, and where appropriate oversees, the work of vendors, consultants, and other contractors.
- Takes steps to identify, mitigate, and address any potential risks - real or perceived - to the agency, its events, and other work.

**Qualifications/Experience**
- Post-secondary degree or diploma, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience fundraising or a comparable revenue-generation role with demonstrated success in:

- Securing major gifts and support
- Building and managing successful relationships.
- Achieving financial targets.
- Membership in the Association of Fundraising Professionals, and a CFRE or other certifications, are assets.
- Familiarity with AGLC rules around gaming and lotteries is an asset.
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License.
- Acceptable Police Information Check.
