**Claims Management and Wellness Specialist**

***Dartmouth, NS**

This role is located in our Dartmouth, NS office.

**Core Responsibilities**
- Plan and implement internal communication and education about the disability management program and workers compensation for all stakeholders.
- Develops return to work accommodations by communicating with employees, leaders and the bargaining unit to facilitate their early and safe return to the workplace
- Administer Workers Compensation, Short Term and Long Term Disability and to ensure appropriate adjudication of claims.
- Represent the Company and employee interests; act as the primary liaison between the employee, insurance carriers and front-line Supervisor/Managers, to encourage healthy rehabilitation, early intervention while monitoring current return to work plans.
- Work with HR, reporting Manager and/or Health and Safety to develop, coordinate and implement modified work plans resulting from WSIB, STD, LTD disability related absences.
- Identify appropriate modified/transitional work and assigning injured or absent employee to identified tasks. This will include assessing workstations within the Manufacturing facilities when required.
- Maintaining confidential case records is imperative.
- Coordinate ergonomic consults and hearing assessments, as required.
- Coordinate health and wellness strategies and initiatives, analyzes trends, and recommends focus for prevention efforts to reduce workplace injuries and illnesses.
- Enter relative data into HRIS systems as it relates to leave and disability.
- Conduct work area visits and inspections as required.
- Provide assistance to onsite investigations, as required.

**What You Will Bring**
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Kinesiology, Physiotherapy, Occupational Health and Safety, Occupational Health Nursing or related discipline.
- Four (4) years’ recent related experience in medical case management or disability claims management found in a multi-site, multi-union environment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Certified Disability Case Management Profession (CDMP) designation as asset.
- Ability to plan, develop and implement goal-oriented claim management plans.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medical management and pharmacology would be an asset.

***Skills and Knowledge**
- Advanced knowledge of relevant workplace regulations, legislation and case law.
- Previous experience in facilitating and coordinating a return to work program with the ability to liaise with varied benefit carriers.
- Demonstrated sensitivity and effectiveness in dealing with ill or injured employees and employees with disabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with conflicting expectations and resistance.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to protect the confidentiality/privacy of others with the highest confidence, as well as company documents and records is imperative.
