This is a new position to reflect the evolution of NOSM University. The Director of Clinical Partnerships and Hospital Relations is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing administratively the building of strong relationships to lead and develop functional, pan-northern partnerships across NOSM U’s distributed network. This role involves comprehensive oversight of Faculty Affairs, the Physician Workforce Strategy, and serving as the liaison with the Northern Ontario Academic Medical Association (NOAMA).

Under the direct authority of the Vice President, Clinical Partnerships and Hospital Relations (VP, CPHR), the Director, Clinical Partnerships and Hospital Relations (VP, CPHR) is accountable jointly with the VP, CPHR for the achievement of the unit’s academic and non-academic objectives of the Northern Ontario School of Medicine University (NOSM U), including, but not limited to, the development and implementation of the Northern Ontario Academic Health Sciences Network North (AHSNN).

This is a full-time continuing position and will be in Thunder Bay and able to travel throughout Northern Ontario.

**Responsibilities**:
Tasks may include but are not limited to the following:

- Oversees the day-to-day operations, oversees budget preparations, maintains and works within the approved budget and government program funding and coordinates the required reports for annual renewal of budget requests
- Builds and nurtures relationships to serve as a resource and point of contact for senior leadership, faculty, staff, learners, and other key constituents to resolve complex issues and help move forward strategic priorities
- Provides guidance and strategic advice to the VP, CPHR on all clinical partnerships and hospital relationships in Northern Ontario, which includes overseeing the writing of strategic documents, including environmental scans, options papers, and executive briefing notes
- Manages and maintains bi-lateral agreements between NOSM University and Health Sciences North (HSN) and Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (TBRHSC).
- Liaises and supports the Northern Teaching Hospital Council (NHTC)
- Aids in the development the strategic plan as well as multi-year operational plans for advancement of the AHSNN and its expansion regionally, which will include an environmental scan of all Health Sciences Centers, programs, recommending new strategic opportunities at NOSM University
- Contributes to NOSM University’s administrative governance, holding membership in the Management Leadership Groups
- In collaboration with the VP, CPHR, engages in the development and maintenance of partnerships with Northern Ontario’s Academic Health Sciences Centres (AHSC) and Teaching Hospitals and the establishment of a pan-northern Academic Health Sciences Network North-Guides the development of a governance structure for the AHSNN
- Aids the VP CPHR in any oversight and responsibilities as it relates to Faculty Affairs, including the Associate Dean, Faculty Affairs, and the Associate Dean, Physician Workforce Strategy
- Provides guidance in the development and coordination of relevant MOUs, Affiliation Agreements, and Terms of Reference for committees as required.
- Supports the NOSM U work related to NOAMA
- Represents NOSM University in discussions, and relationship building with various medical associations and organizations as required
- Maintains a visible presence within assigned communities, attending and speaking at external events on behalf of NOSM University
- Aids the VP, CPHR and the Office of the President in leading fundraising efforts in Thunder Bay, manages donor relations, and engages in municipal affairs as required in support of the role of the VP, CPHR
- Participates and/or supports key meetings with faculty, leadership, and others.
- Collaborates with relevant units to develop policies and documents related to clinical partnerships and hospital relations
- Assists in the preparation and submission of policies, agreements, and other documents for approval through the appropriate governing bodies and regulatory agencies
- Ensures compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and policies governing clinical partnerships and healthcare relationships
- Coordinates with the VP, CPHR and the Office of the President on future planning for NOSM University campus development and expansion.
- Cultivates positive relationships with Northwestern Ontario colleges, universities, physicians, hospitals, and community organizations
- Represents the University at ceremonies, conferences, and other relevant events as required
- Facilitates regular and annual reporting of fiscal status, program activity, quality measures and quality improvement
- Acts as a member of NOSM University’s Management Group
- Performs all other duties as assigned
