**ABOUT US**:
Ka-Na-Chi-Hih operates three healing lodges across northern Ontario, in Thunder Bay, Timmins, and Sioux Lookout. We offer culturally grounded, trauma-informed programs with an Indigenous-focused lens for Indigenous people with substance mis-use and/or mental health challenges. **SUMMARY**:
As a member of Ka-Na-Chi-Hih, the Clinical Services Specialist professionally applies social work methods and theory to prevention and treatment of mental, emotional, and behavioural disorders for our clients. The Clinical Services Specialist works remotely and in-person with the clinical teams of Ka-Na-Chi-Hih’s Wakenagun Youth Healing Lodge in Timminsand Pelican High Peak Youth Healing Lodge in Sioux Lookout. The Clinical Services Specialist works on, and supports and advises our clinical teams to screen intake and medical records, conduct interviews and assessments, set treatment goals, provide one-on-one counselling and arrange for coordinating services.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Develop treatment strategies using methods such as behaviour therapy and psychotherapeutic techniques;
- Travel at least monthly to our lodges;
- Develop and implement a clinical strategic plan for our three healing lodges;
- Advise and support clinical team members at our lodges to maintain cohesion with the strategic clinical plan;
- Monitor effectiveness of the clinical treatment plan and adjust the plan to meet client needs;
- Build strong therapeutic relationships with clients and provide individual and group counseling and support;
- Conduct comprehensive mental health and addictions clinical and risk assessments, formulate treatment and discharge plans, and provide crisis intervention;
- Strive to achieve excellence in client and family-centered care and enhance the quality of life in collaboration with the leadership team and other healthcare providers;
- Advise the team to use research-backed methods for client treatment;
- Promote a supportive, creative learning environment and continuous quality improvement while supporting clients on their wellness and wellbeing journey;
- Maintain client case documentation and client files;
- Analyze and solve problems and conflicts that arise;
- Maintain confidentiality at all times;
- Perform other duties as assigned.

**ACCOUNTABILITY**:

- The Clinical Services Specialist is under the day-to-day supervision of the Assistant Director of Treatment Services, with overall accountability to the Director of Treatment Services.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Knowledge of mental health, addictions, substance misuse, Indigenous trauma and grief and concurrent disorders along with holistic treatment methods and principles of recovery in mental health and addictions
- Knowledge of Indigenous issues, such as effects of Residential Schools, 60’s scoop. violence and oppression, colonization, intergenerational trauma, and determinants of health.
- Knowledge of psychosocial rehabilitation methodology, chemical dependency and addictions treatment, psychopharmacology (indications and side-effects), and psychotherapeutic and counseling skills
- Knowledge of evidence-based best practices and issues in the care and treatment of mental health, addictions, and concurrent disorders
- Knowledge of basic research inquiries and methods, e.g. research ethics, research question, hypothesis, and qualitative and quantitative data analysis
- Knowledge of legislation and government policies and procedures that relate to the service population
- Ability to provide effective leadership, supervision, work direction, and consultation
- Ability to communicate (orally and in writing) and collaborate effectively with clients, families, coworkers, physicians, other healthcare staff, and staff of external agencies
- Must possess a valid Ontario Driver’s License and be willing to travel regularly.
- Must provide a clear criminal reference check (PVSC), which includes screening for vulnerable sector.

**Education/Experience**:

- Masters of Social Work Degree
- Registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers or a similar licensed professional college
- A minimum of 5 years experience within mental health and addictions
- Experience in working with and networking with First Nation communities

Pay: $95,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
