The British Columbia Teachers' Federation (BCTF), located on the unceded ancestral territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, sḵwx̱wú7mesh, and səlil̓w̓ətaɬ nations since 1917, is a union of professionals representing over 50,000 public school teachers in throughout the province of BC.

The BCTF office building is situated in close proximity to the Canada Line and other major transit routes in a central Vancouver location. The BCTF provides an exceptional working environment for approximately 180 employees where respect, diversity, and professional growth are championed and valued.
**This is an in-person position based out of 550 West 6th Avenue, in Vancouver.**
**Function and Purpose**
Working in the Professional and Social Issues Division (PSID) under general direction, the Bilingual Administrative Assistant and Translator prepares and ensures the accuracy of all French-language Federation documents destined for print and/or online publication. Provides administrative and secretarial assistance in both English and French to the Co-ordinator of French Programs and Services and as required to the director and assistant directors in PSID, which is a division that supports the enhancement of student learning by promoting and supporting socially responsible quality teaching and quality public education.
**Required education/training**
- High school completion plus one year of education/training in commercial courses, English/French translation, and editing/secretarial courses.
- Maintain an active status with the Society of Translators and Interpreters of British Columbia (STIBC) as a Certified Translator.
- Maintain an active accreditation with the Canadian Translators, Terminologists, and Interpreters Council (CTTIC) as a Certified Translator, English to French.
**Required experience**
- A minimum of four years’ experience performing senior secretarial duties in a French-language environment involving the daily use of both French and English languages (oral and written) within a similar institution or in directly related work.
- A minimum of one year of experience working as a Certified Translator (English to French) within a similar institution or in directly related work.
- Demonstrated fluency and writing ability in both official languages enabling the performance of all duties in French and English.
- Demonstrated ability to perform and communicate effectively both independently and as part of a team in an environment, that is frequently high pressure**and, that involves a high degree of tact and accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain and update web pages through conversion of French language.
