**Community Relations Coordinator**

Regular Part-time (10-20 hours/week)

Daytime/evening/weekend hours where applicable

Hybrid, flexible position with both remote and in person opportunities, as required, at Canadian Tire Woodstock location

**The Role**:
The Community Relations Coordinator (CRC) will be responsible for developing positive, on-going relationships with community organizations on behalf of Canadian Tire Woodstock, using a strong public relations and marketing plan. The CRC will also be responsible for internal staff engagement and incentives. The CRC identifies, develops, and implements all marketing and promotional strategies for Woodstock Canadian Tire and works closely with staff to promote internal and external events. The CRC finds opportunities for Canadian Tire to be involved in local community events, and promotes awareness of these initiatives through communication with media, organizations, businesses, and staff. This position presents the opportunity to be a fun, creative, engaged role within the organization and the Woodstock community.

**Responsibilities**:

- Develop and implement staff incentive and reward programs to assist with building a positive, motivated work environment and team
- Manage and assist the management team in the execution of national and local store marketing initiatives
- Research local companies and organizations for possible partnerships and engagement opportunities
- Assist with the planning and marketing of store initiatives and events (internal and external)
- Implement and analyze public relations and local community marketing strategies that advance Canadian Tire’s mission and goals of being involved in community; projects may include event planning (i.e. open houses, sales events and fundraisers), volunteer coordinating, speaking events, and community outreach programs
- Educate the local community about the Canadian Tire brand, concept and programs with local businesses, schools, sports teams, media outlets and community organizations
- Identify and capitalize on key opportunities in the community to raise the profile of the brand
- Manage contact database and submit weekly tracking sheets
- Other duties as required

**Qualifications**:

- Research, investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Proven self-starter with a demonstrated ability to work well independently
- Demonstrate ability to work effectively as a member of a team
- Excellent organization and time management skills with an ability to manage in a changing priority environment
- Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias

**Event Planning**
- Graphic design skills to create and promote events
- Fundraising and/or event planning experience an asset
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends and holidays
- Outgoing personality and ability to connect with all contacts related to event planning

**Public Relations and Communications**
- Knowledge of marketing, public relations, and sales
- Minimum 1 year experience in marketing preferred
- Considerable knowledge of the principles, techniques and methods of public relations, marketing, communications using a variety of sources including social media
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service
- Excellent ability to effectively communicate ideas and propose new ideas to both the team and community groups
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills in order to address a variety of audiences
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with media representatives, community groups, public officials, employees and the general public
- Active user of social media with a thorough knowledge of the various social media tools available, such as Facebook, Instagram, community calendars, and internal communications

**Interpersonal Relationships**
- Must work well within a retail team culture
- A positive and team-oriented attitude
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills in order to maintain effective relations with all levels of internal (staff and management) and external contacts
- Advanced customer service and relationship management skills - able to exceed guest expectations and manage relationships with community partners
