**MEDICAL SECRETARY/RECEPTIONIST**
**Full-time**
**SUMMARY**
The Smiths Falls Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinic (NPLC) provides exemplary comprehensive primary health care services to the residents of Smiths Falls and the surrounding counties of Leeds, Grenville, and Lanark.
Under indirect supervision, and working as part of an interdisciplinary team, the Medical Secretary/Receptionist provides secretarial support to the health services team, ensures smooth and efficient operation by maintaining all systems which support clinical services, acts as a resource to the health services team by maintaining up-to-date lists of community, social services, health resources and medical specialists, maintains appointment schedules and client records and document management system and back-up support to other Medical Secretary/ Receptionist when needed.
**ACCOUNTABILITY**
The Medical Secretary/Receptionist reports to and is responsible to the Administrative Lead.
**ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Clinical administrative support - prepares, maintains, and updates client electronic chart.
- Scheduling - book client appointments and schedules room bookings as needed.
- Document management - files clinical information in electronic client records; maintains forms; maintains appointment scheduling templates.
- Intake - coordinates the intake process for new clients and maintains demographic information.
- Support - works in tandem with second Medical Secretary/Receptionist by answering phones and greeting clients/public.
- Quality Improvement - participates in quality assurance practices consistent with evidence based best practice guidelines.
- Complies and maintains data to support open access and efficiency, as well as client satisfaction through compiling survey data.
- Processes prescription renewals and referrals as directed.
- Teamwork - works collaboratively as a member of the inter-professional team.
- Mentoring - supports the Clinic’s student and volunteer placement programs.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Completion of Medical Secretary Certificate or equivalent work experience
- Three to five years Medical Secretary experience
- Ability to prioritize, manage time effectively and be flexible in a very active work environment
- Ability to operate with the highest level of confidentiality and discretion
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Experience in conflict resolution and working with vulnerable populations an asset
- Experience with electronic health records
- Criminal record check required

Pay: $20.00-$21.80 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
