**Purpose**

Reporting to the HR Director, the HR and Payroll Specialist leads the accurate processing of payroll and compliance with various governing bodies for the organization. This role also maintains and improves the functionality of the integrated Payroll and Human Resources Management system (ADP), Learning Management System (Alchemy) and other systems related to HR processes.

**Responsibilities**
- Ensure the accurate and timely preparation of bi-weekly payroll for all Associates. Process bonus pay, severance pay and associates reimbursement as needed.
- Analyze all documentation received for completeness and process in the system (new hires, salary adjustments, promotions, job changes, manager changes, leaves, etc.)
- Ensure accuracy of final payroll calculation and audit payroll remittances, register and reconciliations
- Process post-payroll actions such as Service Canada and Statistics Canada reports, RRSP/DPSP reports, miscellaneous insurance reconciliations, etc.
- Initiate and process all payroll aspects for the Fiscal Year End ensuring accurate information as well as the T4 generation and communication process
- Reconcile all Payroll liability accounts in General Ledger
- Reconcile annually Health Tax (EHT),WSIB contributions and various Canadian insurance reports
- Assist in ensuring standard costs are updated periodically including their calculation.
- Prepare various reports for external parties including our WSIB, HRDC and the MOL and work closely with Finance to ensure strong financial controls are implemented within finance department as well as overall organization
- Prepare WSIB monthly premium report online, review the statements periodically and ensure the payment is accurate.
- Monitor adherence to legislation regarding income tax, pension and benefits; research and remain current with applicable legislation to recommend to management the necessary actions to remain compliant
- Prepare regular and ad hoc reports such as outstanding vacation, turnover, etc.
- Create records of employment, employment verification letters as needed
- Manage benefits and RRSP match program enrolment, registration and communication
- Advise Associates, People Managers and Peers on the use of ADP
- Implement functional changes to the system to improve efficiency including implementing new workflows, pay policies and electronic documentation
- Manage the Learning Management System enrolment and learning plan assignment as needed
- Lead workshare program registration, communication and reporting
- Act as primary point of contact for Associates on pay, benefits and vacation matters

**Qualifications**
- College or University graduate, with a Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation or near completion
- 3 - 5 years’ experience processing Canadian payroll, administering benefits and retirement programs, and maintaining a Human Resources Information System
- Self-starter with prior experience in a manufacturing and distribution work environment, capable of delivering timely and quality services
- Strong work ethic handling confidential and sensitive Associate data in a professional and friendly manner
- Able to effectively handle multiple projects and priorities, streamline existing processes and recommend new more effective practices or technologies
