has an opportunity for a

**HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST**

Permanent Full-Time

70 Bi-Weekly Hours| Non-Union | Days

Baycrest provides care and service to approximately 2,000 people a day through a unique continuum of care system, ranging from wellness programs, residential housing and outpatient clinics, to a 472-bed nursing home, and a 300-bed complex continuing care facility with an acute care unit.

Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the Human Resources Specialist will be responsible for supporting the HR Managers in the confidential case management of complaints and investigations, as well as supporting the Health Human Resources strategy aligned with the Baycrest code of conduct and Baycrest values.

This role will be primarily responsible for conducting workplace investigations pursuant to Baycrests policies and procedures. This role also requires continuous collaboration within the Human Resources team, as well as the ability to partner with leaders across the organization. This role is critical to driving successful business outcomes, while enhancing the employee experience at Baycrest

**Responsibilities include but are not limited to**:

- Provide support and assistance to the HR Managers in partnering with management clients to support their objective and impact positively on human capital measures
- Support the HR Managers as a customer service agent for Human Resources, receiving issues/complaints and facilitating timely resolution of these issues/complaints to the satisfaction of staff and management
- Ensure all investigations are conducted to the highest quality standard in line with legislation, policies, and procedures ensuring procedural fairness and natural justice
- Prepare for and conduct interviews with the management team with respondents, witnesses, and complainants and assist in drafting disciplinary letters with support/coaching from Human Resources Managers
- Seek and analyze evidence to make investigation findings
- Provide recommendations to resolve investigations, which may include corrective action such as counselling, discipline, education, and etc.
- Document process, allegations, findings, evidence and other critical information into a Workplace Investigation Report
- Provide ad hoc support to the Human Resource Managers as needed

**Qualifications include but are not limited to**:

- University or Community College graduate in Human Resources, or a related discipline
- Minimum of three (3) years experience in Human Resources or related field
- Working knowledge of all relevant legislation such as the Human Rights Code, the Ontario Health and Safety Act, the AODA and all interrelated legislation.
- Experience working in a direct health care, long term care, or public sector in an unionized environment
- Excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal and verbal and written communication skill
- Demonstrated assessment, problem solving, critical thinking and decision-making skill
- Ability to distill complex information into clear, concise messages to staff and leaders.

Agreements

Working knowledge of, human resources practices, procedures and policies
- Sound judgement and discretion to resolve issues independently
- Ability to influence and work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders at various levels (e.g. managers, directors, union representatives, etc.)
- Comfort working in a fluid and changing environment
