The Specialist, Engagement and Retention reports to the Manager, Engagement and Retention, and is an internal consulting resource for the organization who provides expert advice and counsel throughout BCEHS on Engagement and Retention and major priority change initiatives that are aligned with the goals and objectives. The Specialist collaborates with members of other teams to develop and implement strategies and programs in the areas of team effectiveness, cultural change, organizational and leadership development, and employee engagement. The Specialist participates in corporate initiatives and on agency specific committees to provide leadership, consultation, and support and partners strategically, internally and externally, to share knowledge and enhance integration in an increasingly complex health and employee environment.

**What you’ll do**
- Develops, educates and partners with leaders and staff on change management processes, approaches, and templates such that best practice change management is universally utilized across BCEHS and engages stakeholders from initiation to implementation of the change.
- Facilitates team development and changes in group norms, values and culture; identifies and administers instruments and surveys to analyze individual and group behaviour; provides coaching support to leaders to increase success in initiatives.
- Partners and collaborates with other members of People, Culture & Diversity to support organizational programs to enhance engagement and increase capacity and effectiveness.
- Develops and facilitates BCEHS programs related to employee engagement and retention, organizational and team effectiveness, change management and leadership development.

**What you bring**
- 3-5 years of recent related experience in Employee Experience or Engagement and Retention including:

- Building and executing employee engagement and retention-related initiatives including change management and communication.
- Previous experience in consulting and delivery of educational programs would also be an asset.
- Demonstrated expertise in non-clinical learning as it relates to employee engagement and retention, culture, and organizational and leadership development.
- Excellent communication skills including the ability to train, facilitate, negotiate and persuade others. Systems thinking and political awareness are essential.
- Strong analysis and problem-solving abilities required.
- Internal consulting role requires leadership, facilitation and problem solving and team skills, generally in the context of team challenges and conflict.
- Excellent organizational skills including the ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
- Highly developed analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to deal effectively with all levels of staff.
- Strong, positive team player with a collaborative work style.
- Must demonstrate LEADS competencies (Leads Self, Engages Others, Achieves Results, Develops Coalitions, Systems Transformation).

**Indigenous Cultural Safety and Diversity**
- Knowledge of Canadian colonial impacts on Indigenous people in social and health contexts, supported by significant knowledge of Canadian and Indigenous ideologies, including knowledge, and understanding of Indigenous cultural safety, cultural humility, Indigenous-specific racism and anti-racism.
- Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Site Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls calls for justice, and how they intersect across the health care system.
- Supports team members on their learning journey, ensuring education strategy for team/department to implement Indigenous Cultural Safety at a practical level.
- Works collaboratively with appropriate Indigenous teams/departments to ensure ICS lens applied holistically.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
- Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.)
