Critical Care Manager

Reporting to the Director, Learning and Development, the Critical Care & Aeromedical Transport Education Manager is a key leadership position responsible for promoting excellence in education and practice related to critical care, aviation operations, inter-facility transfer, and care in special circumstances.
This role is crucial in ensuring that BCEHS meets its mandate to provide reliable, accessible, high-quality out-of-hospital and inter-facility care, and supports learners and existing clinical staff in developing and maintaining the skills and education necessary to provide effective, evidence-led care in various modalities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop curricula, education programs, systems of practice education, and clinical governance structures that support continuous clinical improvement and align with the Quintuple Aim.
- Lead knowledge translation from theory to practice and ensure that education programs reflect best practice and are evidence-based, high-quality, and supported by available technologies and resources.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders, including practice educators, regulators, licensing boards/colleges, educational institutions, operational, clinical, and professional leaders to identify desired practice outcomes, develop, implement, and monitor work plans/projects, and supervise programs of education, operational model development, practice education, and project teams.
- Provide leadership, consultation, and direction for practice education across various clinical license levels within BCEHS, including paramedics, nursing staff, and physicians.
Requirements
- A master's degree in Education (Adult Education, Education Leadership), Advanced Clinical Practice, Critical Care, or a related field, plus seven (7) years of clinical experience in health or pre-hospital care.
- Recent experience in the provision of critical care in an aeromedical transport environment.
- Eligibility for licensure with the Emergency Medical Assistants Licensing Board (EMALB) of British Columbia or a relevant regulated health profession.
- Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and implement advanced practice learning programs, curriculum, learning materials, a broad repertoire of teaching techniques, practice integration strategies, and evaluation plans.
- Demonstrated experience in the design and delivery of education supporting the use of various delivery formats and pedagogies, including distance delivery technologies.
- Demonstrated project planning and management skills, including the ability to work clinically in the aeromedical and critical care paramedic operational environment.
- Ability to lead and guide experienced staff in education matters and speak to clinical governance, patient safety, and practice education issues with senior staff and PHSA and external agency executives.

- Supports team members on their learning journey, ensuring education strategy for team/department to implement Indigenous Cultural Safety at a practical level.
- Works collaboratively with appropriate Indigenous teams/departments to ensure ICS lens applied holistically.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
