**_Position Summary: _**

Reporting to the Regional Sales Manager, the Business Development Specialist identifies British Columbia customer targets and builds relationships with decision-makers to foster and close business opportunities. Develops profitable sales, including matching new business opportunities with current service capacity, while maximizing the GFS value proposition.

Responsibilities will include bringing new accounts to GFS, modeling the Cornerstone Values, and providing flawless service to our customers. This position is responsible for participating in food shows, sales meetings, and sales promotions. We are looking for a motivated, results-oriented individual with strong sales and customer service skills. Training and support is provided.
- The compensation package for this position ranges from $70,000 to $125,000 on an annual basis. _

**_Essential Functions: _**
- Develops a strategic selling approach to establish key customer relationships.
- Understands key players and trends within the food service industry.
- Creates sustainable value propositions for potential customers that align GFS capabilities with customer values and business needs.
- Fully utilizes contact management pipeline software solutions to update team members on status and activities.
- Creates and presents professional presentations for potential new customers.
- Utilizes our customer profitability model and pricing strategies to negotiate customer contracts to ensure a balanced portfolio.
- Creates steady growth that is aligned with the organization and GFS distribution network planning.
- Communicates and collaborates with internal and external teams.
- Collaborates with key decision-makers and executives of accounts to onboard and transfer customers to proper sales representatives for ongoing maintenance.
- Reports regularly to the leadership team regarding current and potential customer activities and developments.
- Monitors the Industry to maintain knowledge of segments through various media/news sources and local culinary organizations.
- Demonstrates and delivers understanding of Food service Industry and Operations.
- Understands areas of customer focus, such as Sales Building, Staffing, Profitability, and Compliance.

**_Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: _**
- Must have excellent written, verbal, organizational, and communication skills as well as problem-solving capabilities.
- Must have the ability to prepare and deliver presentations and speak at functions as a departmental representative.
- Must have the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and be able to work independently or within a team environment.
- Must have strong negotiation skills, be customer service focused, be a strategic thinker, be inquisitive, innovative, and creative.
- Must have the ability to understand and utilize market research and P&L statements.
- Must have the ability to develop solutions to a variety of complex problems. May refer to established precedents and policies
- Must be able to travel to different locations.
- Minimum 5 years of work experience in a sales role.
- A university/college degree in sales/marketing/business would be an asset.
- 5 to 10 years of industry experience in the food service industry.
