**Climate Grant and Program Advisor (Continuous)**

**Engineering & Public Works Department**

**POSITION FUNCTION**

**KEY **DUTIES**

Liaise with federal, provincial and municipal officials and program managers, foundations and community organizations for information exchange, collaboration and strategic advice and direction. Participate and represent the department in various working groups and forums; organize meetings and deliver presentations to internal/external groups; liaise with the public/community stakeholders.

Perform related duties where required.

**INDEPENDENCE**

Work is reviewed through discussions with supervisor and department meetings.

New initiatives, major projects and policies are discussed with supervisor with recommendations.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**

**Physical Effort**:
Normal.

Meet multiple deadlines. (often)

Short periods of intense concentration while preparing reports. (often)

Focus on a variety of source data and computer for short periods. (often)

**KEY SKILLS AND ABILITIES**

Organize and prioritize work.

Superior knowledge and skill related to all aspects of a grant cycle.

Ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals.

Read and interpret technical information, policies and legislation.

Compose and present proposals, reports and policies.

Facilitate public meetings and workshops.

Deal effectively with the public and outside agencies.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Excel as part of a team, or independently.

Understand how environmental issues integrate within the larger context of local government priorities and core services.

Working level knowledge of current City word processing, spreadsheet and related specialty software.

Excellent time management and organizational skills, including ability to adapt easily to shifting priorities.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**Formal Education, Training and Occupational Certification**:
University undergraduate degree in Sustainability, Communications, Environmental Science or Studies, Public Administration, or related field (4 years).

Additional relevant training or certification an asset.

**Experience**:
4 years related experience in climate, sustainability or environmental field with a focus on the implementation, assessment and maintenance of projects and initiatives, preferably in local government, or public institution setting.

Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

**OTHER**:
May be requested to substitute in a more senior position.

**Work schedule: Monday to Friday, (35 hour work week)**

**$52.96 per hour, Pay Grade 16**
