Reporting to the Executive Director, the Grant Writer will provide expertise in seeking funding and grant opportunities, researching needs, and writing proposals in areas aligned with John Howard Society of Victoria strategic goals. The Grant Writer will be responsible for researching, preparing, and submitting grant proposals for various projects and programs.
- With the Executive Director, set annual funding targets and develop and implement funding or grant plans to support the organization's goals and objectives.
- Identify and cultivate relationships with potential donors, sponsors, and partners.
- Ensure timely and personalized recognition and stewardship of all supporters.
- Execute outreach initiatives to engage individuals, businesses, and community organizations in supporting the organization's mission.
- Work with the management team to create compelling marketing and stewardship materials, and impact reports to promote the organization's mission and attract donors.
- Refine our value proposition, support case, impact reports, and sponsorship package as needed to support funding efforts.
- Maintain accurate records of donor data, contributions, and correspondence in our donor management system.
- Analyze funding performance metrics and provide regular reports to the Executive Director.
- Monitor deliverables for proposals and awarded grants, comply with reporting, and keep the internal team apprised of all related requirements of grant agreements and contracts.
- Maintain knowledge of program activities, outcomes, and impact to effectively communicate with stakeholders.
**Qualifications**:
- Proven track record of successful funding experience in a nonprofit or similar setting
- Strong knowledge of funding techniques and strategies, with demonstrated experience in building corporate sponsorship programs.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in grant and report writing with proven success in drafting and submitting complex proposals that include clear, compelling narrative and data-driven content, program/project budgets, and other required documentation.
- Excellent project management skills to meet goals and deadlines while working with various internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to think strategically and creatively about funding opportunities.
- Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Proficient in using a technology tool to manage and track funding activities.
- Self-motivated team player who can work independently as well as collaboratively with colleagues.
