Momiji Health Care Society is a non-profit organization providing services to senior citizens of primarily Japanese-Canadian descent, to maximize their independence, health, and quality of life. We are currently seeking a motivated and passionate Part-Time Mobile SALC Coordinator to join our Community Services Department for the expansion of Seniors Active Living Centre activities of Momiji Health Care Society to the West side of Toronto and into Peel Region.

This position is a one-year contract position (with the possibility of becoming permanent) beginning in February 2024.

**Working Hours and Location**

22.5 hours per week, between the hours of 9:00am and 5:00pm, Monday - Friday. Occasional Evenings and weekends may be required.

This position requires travel as the work location is in different areas or locations in the community. A primary work location will be determined at a later date and mileage to and from that location will be reimbursed.

**Hourly Rate**

$23.50

**The Role**

The Coordinator will plan, develop, implement, lead and evaluate activity programs to help our seniors stay active, improve fitness, and have fun. May also lead such activities as arts and crafts, music, or games.

This position plays a crucial role in supporting our organization’s mission and ensuring the smooth implementation of activities or expansion and will allow us to provide a wide range of activities, programs, and support to the Japanese senior population residing in the west end of the Greater Toronto Area.

**Major Responsibilities**:

- Development, planning, scheduling, promotion, implementation and ensuring program quality.
- Plan, organize, and lead activities.
- Provide programming in the West GTA by running some regular activities, programs and outings, including exercise programs, together with volunteers.
- Planning and implementing several special events throughout the year.
- Work and communicate effectively, in a positive and professional manner, with clients, staff and volunteers.
- Completes and maintains related program records and documentation such as statistics, progress reports, activity plans and client activity profiles.
- Trains, supervises, and supports program volunteers and contractors assisting with the delivery of social & recreational programs.
- Participate in other duties as assigned.
- Uphold Confidentiality.

**Skills and Experience Required**:

- Post-secondary education in Gerontology, Activation or Recreation, or a combination of education and work experience is preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience delivering recreational programs for older adults.
- Computer literacy is required.
- Organize time effectively to perform the duties of the position and meet deadlines.
- Experience working with seniors.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect and engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Flexibility, self-motivation, and an interest in learning about activation for seniors.
- Good communication skills in English are required; knowledge of Japanese language/culture is a strong asset.
