**Community Relations Coordinator**

In accordance with Canada’s with Summer Job Program eligibility requirements, applicants must be

Estimated Start: Between April 24, 2023 and May 1 2023

Time Commitment: 16 weeks

Week Pay Range: $ 15.50 per hour, 35 hours per week

Location: HFH Burlington Office - 1800 Appleby Line, Unit 10 Burlington, Ontario (working in person)

**Habitat for Humanity HMD is a charitable, non-profit housing provider that serves the communities of Halton, Mississauga and Dufferin. Since 1999, we have built a total of 69 affordable homes. Our mission is “to empower lower income, working families to build strength, stability, and independence by providing affordable housing that enables financial equity and lasting change.**

**We are one of 48 Habitat affiliates operating in Canada under a federated model. While mandated to meet strictly established brand, fiduciary and management standards, each affiliate has its own charitable charter and an independent Board of Directors under whose governance they operate. This federated structure allows for operational and mission latitude to be employed to varying degrees by individual Habitat affiliates, in order to deliver affordable housing solutions appropriate to the markets they serve.**

**Skills & Qualifications**:

- Provides administrative support to the VP of Strategic Partners & Community Relations, including, taking notes and recording action items in meetings, and sending various types of correspondence on their behalf.
- Supports event planning, provides logístical and coordinating support for activities related to government and community meetings and delegations, including booking and managing vendors and service providers, supporting itinerary development
- Supports the Office’s monitoring program including political and community scans of new or changing
- Funding opportunities, policies, council and committee reports and legislative policies as well as public interest issues, maintains a contact management system for government, industry and stakeholder contacts, updating as changes occur.
- Develop an updated contact list of relevant municipal, regional, provincial and federal governments.
- Assist in the development and maintaining of government and community relations as directed by the VP of Strategic Partnership & Community Relations.
- Develop weekly government/community issues brief documentation as it relates to Habitat HMD’s work in affordable housing.
- Maintains an internal and external political event calendar, including a broad range of public interest events for all government levels.
- Provides updates on local, provincial, and federal Government Relations initiatives that support /impact Habitat Priorities.
- Conducts research and monitors legislative developments and key policy trends, providing analysis and recommendations.
- Promotes and exemplifies Habitat HMD brand and mission, attending & representing at government forums and other events as authorized.
- Ensures Habitat HMD team members are appropriately registered according to provincial and federal lobbying laws
- Assists in the drafting of briefing materials and organizing meetings with community and government stakeholders and elected officials.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract, Internship / Co-op

**Salary**: $15.50 per hour
