Reporting directly to the HR Manager, the HR Coordinator is responsible for helping support administrative and functional excellence in the Human Resources department in the areas of; recruitment/retention; employee relations; health and benefits administration; claims management; the maintenance of training and personnel records; and employee engagement.

2 **RESPONSIBILITIES**

b. Perform new hire orientation of all new hires (hourly and salary) and temp-to-permanent transitions to ensuring a positive initial experience and understanding of the Metrican business culture and expectations.

c. In the event that staffing needs are dictated by sourcing temporary employees, the HR Coordinator will act as the point of contact with Metrican’s staffing agencies to ensure an expedient process and agreed upon service level is in place to meet the Company’s needs.

i. As a part of the HR Coordinator’s responsibilities with the staffing agencies he/she will maintain up-to-date records of hours worked to ensure that transitions from temp-to-permanent employment occurs as a priority.

2. The HR Coordinator will be responsible for the maintenance of all employee personnel files, including accurate and up-to-date information stored in ADP.

a. Provide regularly cadenced reports around attendance, over-time and related requests.

3. The HR Coordinator will also be responsible for serving as the initial point of contact for employee inquiries on health and benefit provisions and programs including, but not limited:
a. Healthcare plans

b. Benefits administration and entitlements

c. Vacation/time off requests

4. The HR Coordinator will serve as the liaison between Metrican and WSIB regarding new and open claims reporting and in collaboration with the HR Manager ensure prompt follow up on open claims with the appropriate adjudicator takes place so as to ensure an expedient safe return to work while focusing on cost-reduction.

5. The HR Coordinator will serve on Metrican’s Joint Health and Safety Committee, attending all meetings and ensuring that action items are recorded and executed upon in a timely manner in collaboration with all appropriate parties.

6. In collaboration with the HR Manager, the HR Coordinator will organize and help facilitate various employee engagement activities such as giveaways, Company-sponsored events (i.e. Company BBQ’s) as well as community involvement initiatives.

7. On an “as-needed” basis, the HR Coordinator will serve as the back-up Payroll Specialist to ensure all payroll-related activities are maintained in the event of any absence.

8. Other duties as assigned.

3 **REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE**

1. 1-3 years’ experience in performing professional level human resources activities, preferably in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

2. A demonstrated ability to effectively and diplomatically interact/communicate with all levels of a highly matrixed organization.

3. Proficient in MS Office environments.

4. Ability to work within established HRIS’s, preferably ADP.

5. Knowledge and understanding of local and Provincial laws, rules and regulations affecting HR administration.

4 **EDUCATION**

1. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field and/or combined working experience.

2. CHRP/CHRL designation an asset.
