As a key member, you will directly oversee the operation of the Staff Scheduling Department.

**ABOUT THE SCHEDULING DEPARTMENT**

The Scheduling Department is a vital part of our Human Resources Team, managing staff scheduling and leave recording functions for all Broadmead Care sites and programs. In this fast-paced environment, the Scheduling Manager plays a crucial role in supporting and coaching scheduling clerks and ensuring effective decision-making in complex situations. This hands-on role requires critical thinking, the ability to create positive working relationships with a diverse group of staff, and to effectively lead change, innovation, and continuous process improvement. The Supervisor must excel under pressure and have exceptional attention to detail.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Demonstrate effective communication, interpersonal skills, and leadership qualities, exhibiting problem-solving and decision-making abilities with sound judgment in handling staffing issues in accordance with the collective agreement.
- Maintain reference resources for scheduling clerks to ensure access to up-to-date information.
- Serve as a liaison between scheduling clerks and management/supervisors across all departments within BCS.
- Act as a technical resource at BCS for knowledge of shift rotations and other scheduling-related information.
- Set priorities for the department, establish procedures for all scheduling work (both short-call and advance-booking), and manage the booking of vacation coverage.
- Oversees all department projects.
- Monitor performance and coach clerks to provide excellent service.
- Conduct meetings with union representatives as needed to address scheduling issues.
- Monitors Direct Care Hours and maintains necessary staffing levels.
- Collaborates as a member of the Human Resources team on all HR related projects and issues.
- Fills in for Scheduling Clerks when necessary.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours depending on the needs of the department.

**SELECTION CRITERIA**
- Completion of a post-secondary degree or a 2-year diploma.
- Minimum 5 years of scheduling experience, preferably in healthcare.
- Minimum 3-5 years of management or direct supervision experience, preferably in a unionized environment.
- Experience with computerized scheduling systems; Ceridian Day Force experience is an asset.
- A combination of skills, experience and leadership qualities will be considered.
- Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work effectively under deadlines in a pressured environment.
- Well-developed communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement necessary changes.
- Effective coaching and training skills.
- Eligible to work with vulnerable adults under the BC Criminal Records Review Program as evidenced through a valid Criminal Records Check completed by the Criminal Record Review Program
- Must adhere to the immunization standards as established by the Province of BC now and as they are further developed
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and a Negative Tuberculous (TB test) screen is a condition of employment.

**COMPENSATION**
- Pension: British Columbia Public Service Pension Plan
- Vacation: 4 weeks, increasing 1 day for each year of service to a maximum of 35 days
- Wage Range: $70,000 - $80,000/year (contingent on education and experience)
- Hours of Work: 1950 hours/year (7.5 hours per day)
