**The opportunity**:The Community Literacy Catalyst (CLC) will consult with local partnering organizations in Ottawa to better understand the learning needs and strengths of children and youth programs and program models. As a result of the consultations, the Community Literacy Catalyst will identify program gaps and develop and implement community-focused literacy and numeracy programs and capacity-building work through key partnerships in local neighborhoods. The CLC will support the Community Coordinator with volunteer coordination.

**In collaboration with the Ottawa Community Coordinator, the CLC will**:

- Recruit, screen, and support 130 volunteer tutors per year, including placement students, youth, and adults involved in United for Literacy’s programs (both in-person and online).
- Develop and implement volunteer recruitment initiatives and recruit approximately 60 to 70 new volunteer tutors yearly.
- Work with existing local partners and network with member agencies and organizations to better understand community learning needs.
- Create a plan for community capacity-building initiatives, including working with local organizations to build their capacity, professional development activities, and customized training workshops and parent workshops.
- Develop and implement innovative literacy and numeracy programs to serve Ottawa residents.
- Evaluate the impact of our programs using a range of quantitative and qualitative methods to monitor programs and evaluate effectiveness.

**Working Conditions**
- Available to meet community groups and attend in-person learning programs in Ottawa
- Evening and weekend work may be required.
- Will work from a distance from a supervisor.
- Willingness to travel to/from programs on a regular basis
