**Environmental Geoscience Student**

Position: Environmental Geoscience Student

Location: Scotia Mine, Cooks Brook, Nova Scotia, Canada

**Background**

The Scotia Mine is located 62 kilometers northeast of Halifax, Nova Scotia, in the Halifax Regional Municipality. Year-round access to the mine is by paved highway roads and is approximately 15 kilometers off the Nova Scotia provincial highway along Route #224. The Scotia Mine is a permitted Zinc, Lead and Gypsum mine and mill which are owned by a wholly owned subsidiary of EDM Resources Inc.

**The Opportunity**

**Key Responsibilities**
- You will be working as part of a team performing field work (sampling/monitoring, field evaluations, data collection, etc.)
- Assist with GIS and mapping
- Create and distribute information for the site on environmental awareness
- Perform instrument calibration
- Log, ship and prepare samples
- Assist with data interpretation/ input
- Organize and record all field and laboratory data
- Support in implementing environmental management plans

**Professional Experience/ Qualifications**
- Currently enrolled in a Sustainable Development, Environmental Science, Geology or Engineering undergraduate program at an accredited university and returning to full-time studies after the work term
- Previous experience in the resource sector, is considered anasset
- Strong Microsoft Office Skills (Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.)
- Experience using GIS software
- Demonstrated ability to contribute and work effectively in a group
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and carry out tasks with mínimal supervision
- Self-motivated with a commitment to continuous improvement
- Time management expertise
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to problem solve and show resourcefulness

**Additional Details**
- This is a contract position
- The hourly wage is $25
- This is a full-time position, with 40 hours per week
- Hours are 8:30am - 4:30pm, Monday to Friday (statutory holidays off)
- The contract would be for 4 months, with the potential of it being extended to 8 months (based on performance)
