**About Our Opportunity**:
We are looking for a post-secondary student to work with a passionate team of professional staff to assist with our forestry outreach programs and events. If you are enthusiastic about connecting people with sound scientific research and information to help them better understand Nova Scotia’s natural resources, then this is the right job for you

**Primary Accountabilities**:
As a forestry outreach student, you will work with the Provincial Outreach Forester to help:

- Launch new public platform for Home Study program
- Create, post and monitor social media content
- Represent the department at workshops and events
- Woodland Owner of the Year program
- Create website content and information for private woodland owners
- Respond to public inquiries
- Assist with the 2023 Youth Hunting Camp (hunting, fishing and outdoor skills camp for youth)

**Qualifications and Experience**:
To be successful in this role, you must have the following:

- Be a full-time post-secondary student in the field of natural resources or environmental science or other related discipline and returning to school in fall 2023
- Proficiency in using standard Microsoft office programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook and MS Teams
- Strong organizational, communication (written and verbal), time management and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, taking the initiative to manage your own work
- Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle

The following are considered assets:

- Presentation and public speaking experience
- Having valid standard first aid training
- Social Media and Website design experience

We will assess the above qualifications using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

The location of this position is Halifax. The start date will be May 1, 2023 with an anticipated end date of August 18, 2023.

Employees must supply their own safety boots.
