**COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR**

Temporary Full Time - Contract

(9 months with possibility of extension)

Victim Services of Durham Region is a non-profit charitable organization working in cooperation with community partners to assist victims of crime and tragic circumstance. We provide on-site or over the phone crisis intervention 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in partnership with Durham Regional Police Service and the OPP. Our services are trauma-informed and aim to amplify the voices of survivors. We advocate for systemic change that supports equity, inclusion, and accessibility.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the CEC will be responsible for creating, implementing, and overseeing high-quality communications strategies to effectively describe and promote the organization and its programs and services, build brand recognition, raise cause awareness, maintain and attract supporters, and drive participation in fundraising and donor initiatives.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Develop and deploy a full scheduled marketing and communications strategy to drive fundraising goals.
- Develop and mobilize a fundraising strategy - oversee VSDR’s fundraising and donor programs, including planning and managing events and the electronic donor platform.
- Develop and enhance donor engagement and media relationships.
- Develop and ensure consistent coordination of image and messaging across all platforms - internal & external communications, media/social media, promotional materials, events & website. Familiarity with social media analytics is considered an asset.
- Support and attend public outreach activities, community events and provide presentations with an emphasis on building brand and mission awareness.
- Track and monitor analytics across all platforms, providing quarterly reports and updates, or as required. Monitor and establish benchmark targets.
- In collaboration with the leadership team, drive content development and maintenance, including reviewing existing digital and print content, identifying areas for improvement, researching and creating content, and maintaining consistency.
- Ensure active engagement with VSDR’s entire team to ensure familiarity with services and projects.

**EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE**
- A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Marketing, or a related field
- Relevant communications, and/or marketing experience
- 5+ years experience developing, implementing, executing, and assessing strategic fundraising initiatives - _must have working knowledge on fundraising requirements and regulations_
- Experience with the following: Website development, graphic design & video editing considered an asset
- French language fluency considered an asset

- Exceptional public speaking abilities is a must;
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines;
- Ability to prioritize, problem-solve and multi-task;
- Ability to “think outside the box” and use creative ideas to drive engagement;
- Self-motivated and able to work well independently;
- Inherent understanding of writing for a target audience(s) and with specific marketing campaign objectives in mind;
- Must be familiar with the not-for-profit/charitable sector;
Job specifics:

- Typical hours are Monday-Friday 9am-5pm with occasional evenings and weekends.
- Availability must be flexible to ensure attendance at events or speaking engagements.
- Must be able to travel within Durham Region.
