Stefanini is looking for **Leave of Absence Specialist** in **Toronto, ON CAD (Hybrid - 1-3 times/month in facility)**

You will use your in-depth process and service knowledge in your area of expertise to ensure that service level agreements and obligations are met. As a co-owner of the development of standard operating procedures, you will drive standardization and simplification of processes. In addition, you will provide input for training materials, ensure that standard operating procedures and data protection activities comply with The Company's policies and the law, analyze and report on exceptions and offer recommendations for process improvements, and lead the sustainable continuous improvement process for the team.

**More about this role**
Under the direction of the team leader within the Work and Life team, the Leave of Absence Specialist will proactively manage all non-occupational leave types in Canada; including but not limited to Short-Term Disability (STD), Long Term Disability(LTD), Parental Leave, AODA accommodations (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act), Unapproved absences etc. This role will focus on early and safe return to work, reduced lost time for non occ cases. Fluent in continuous improvement methodologies to improve organizational effectiveness, reduce process defects, improve workflow and improve the overall employee experience.
The leave of absence specialist will ensure accurate information is reflected the HR system of record and third-party vendors are providing timely updates on all claims.

The Leave of Absence Specialist is expected to stay current on all applicable local, provincial, and federal laws, and legislation.
In their work as functional experts in this specialized area, the Leave of Absence Specialist must also maintain exceptional working relationships with internal management groups, Centers of Excellence (COEs), external vendors, and the broader employee population. Coach managers and employees on the benefits of self service.

**Responsibilities**:

- Coach managers and employees to self-serve
- Expert Knowledge of all Canadian non occupational medical and statutory leave types including personal and compassionate care leave
- Coaching managers and employees on LOA types/process/legal requirements, modified RTW, duty to accommodate
- Proactively manage claims end to end to ensure early and safe return to work
- Provide clearance to employees to return to work and reduce interruption to the business
- Keep key stakeholders informed of all claim status, expected return to work, etc.
- Continuous improvement of end to end process - using CI methodologies and data analysis improve organizational effectiveness, reduce defects, improve workflow and improve the overall employee experience
- Business acumen
- Work with manager to create, execute and monitor early and safe return to work plans
- Use data to predict trends, prevention, education, create and update knowledge articles (review metrics, KPIs, SLAs and top call driver and knowledge article hits
- Work in squads to identify root causes and resolve issues
- Accountable to Work with People Leads and legal as needed to determine next step for unpaid, unapproved LOA claims and reduce impact to the business
- Assist managers and employees to obtain specialized equipment for modifies work. Work with procurement and other workstreams to establish standard process and updates as needed.
- Ongoing communication and updates provided to key stakeholders
- Reduce cost of lost time claims for non occ claims
- Embrace/leverage technology to improve ways of working
- Review and update standard operating procedures as needed.
- Effectively manage the lifecycle of AODA Accommodation claims that may or may not run concurrently and consecutively with STD, ensuring that appropriate modified duties are made available. Coach managers, employees and people leads on the duty to accommodate. Collaborate with all parties to create effective accommodation plans. Ensuring regular follow ups are completed on time.

**Education / Certifications**:

- Degree in Human Resources Management, Psychology, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Industrial Psychology or related field (preferred) or equivalent experience.
- 3-5years of relevant experience in Leave of Absence, Human Resources or experience within Shared Services Organization.
- 3-5 years customer service experience
- Fluent in English (oral and written fluency is required).
- Fluent in French (oral and written fluency is a required)
