**Job Summary**:
This versatile role encompasses various responsibilities, including handling pension and benefits processing, overseeing leave of absence programs, and being the primary administrator of the HRIS system. Additionally, this position entails ensuring accurate data updates and timely submission of bi-weekly payroll to our Payroll team based in Scranton (Pennsylvania).
**Responsibilities**:
**Benefits, Leaves & Pension**
- Oversee benefit programs such as health and dental insurance, wellness and perks.
- Administer the defined contribution pension plan, handling enrolment, contributions and pension filings.
- Implement wellness initiatives to enhance employees’ health and well-being from financial, emotional, social, and physical aspects. Offer resources, organize wellness training, and coordinate various activities to support these efforts
- Manage leaves of absence, disability, and workplace accommodation cases. Collaborate closely with the People Team, Managers, and third-party vendors to effectively manage cases and facilitate smooth return to work transitions.
- Prepare quarterly audits ensuring accurate processing of pension, benefits and absences.
- Lead or support team projects aligned with department fiscal objectives.
- Support News Corp in Canada with benefits administration and communication.
- Review and process invoices for pension and benefits.
- Be the primary resource for employees seeking clarification on benefits and pension matters, offering guidance on policies and programs.
**HR Systems and Administration**:
- Work closely with the Payroll processing team on bi-weekly payroll submissions and year-end requirements (Taxable benefit reporting, benefits and pension year-end).
- Responsible for the data integrity and accurate processing of changes in UKG. On occasion backup for Harlequin Buffalo data changes.
- Facilitate payment requests outside of UKG (ex. Service awards, childcare subsidies, tuition reimbursements)
- Assist the People Team with ad-hoc UKG reporting and provide support for employee inquiries.
Qualifications:
Specific training or job experience required before appointment includes:
- A degree/diploma in Business Administration (Human Resources preferred) or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years experience in HRIS and benefits administration.
- Proficiency in payroll preferred.
- Experience with handling STD/LTD leaves is an asset.
- Experience working with multiple vendors and forming positive relationships.
- Experienced with different payroll and HRIS systems such as UKG is an asset.
**Competencies/Skills**: Competencies and skills required to perform this job include:
- Exceptional customer service skills and ability to liaise with individuals at all levels.
- Exceptional detail orientation and organization skills (with strong sense of urgency & follow through)
- Strong Excel skills with knowledge of pivot tables and formula functions.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize changing demands, while collaborating within a fast-paced dynamic team.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
