**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Associate Vice-President (International) and Chief International Officer, the Manager of International Student Services (ISS) and Global Learning Centre (GLC) is directly responsible and accountable for the operations, human resource management, services, budget, and deliverables for both units within UR International (URI).
The Manager must prepare the Compliance Reports for Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and is also required to facilitate random authentication checks by IRCC and the Canada Border Service Agency (CBSA) throughout the year.
This role is responsible for conceptualizing and implementing programs, services, and other initiatives that support international student retention and success in a manner responsive to emerging trends in higher education administration.
The Manager is an institutional representative of internal and external stakeholders. Thus, relationship-building skills are key to this position and critical to maintaining positive working collaborations.
**The main duties for this position are as follows**:
- Devise strategies to develop and maintain effective and accurate record systems for essential monitoring and reporting on student success, satisfaction, and retention.
- Responsible for all budgetary and human resource matters within the units.
- Requires the ability to make rational decisions to provide resources to students, such as counselling and other support services, assisting students to successfully manage personal, social, academic, financial, and health issues that may impact their academic studies.
- Responsible for ensuring the team is prepared and knowledgeable for developing and delivering comprehensive services for international students, including immigration guidance in compliance with IRCC.
- Responsible for managing the UR International 24/7 emergency on-call system in which the Manager may be called to assist students on campus, in the hospital, and at campus security at late night hours.
- Responsible for preparing and submitting all unit reporting, including financial, academic, and IRCC reporting.
- Ensure that faculties and federated colleges are aware of current, new, and changing immigration policies and procedures impacting international students.
- Development, analysis, and implementation of all policies for both International Student Services and the GLC.
- Responsible for monitoring and overseeing all support programs, workshops, information sessions, etc., for international students at GLC to ensure that resources are used for their allocated purposes.
- Lead all marketing, planning, and coordinating events for international students on campus, such as student orientations, cultural events, student association events, presentations, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements

- University degree combined with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, preferably in post-secondary education, student advising, and working in a cross-cultural environment with international students.
- Must have the Regulated International Student Immigration Advisor (RISIA) Designation or equivalent or is willing and have the ability to complete the program within the first year of employment.
- This position is designed as internationalization specialization, and the incumbent must demonstrate expertise in the area.
- Must have strong knowledge of academic and non-academic transition support services in a global education context.
- Extensive knowledge of budget management.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, workflows, and projects while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials and reports and strong presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to set goals, workloads, and operational policies and procedures for staff and volunteers.
- Extensive knowledge of cross-cultural communication to advise students on cultural, social, and academic transition to living, working, and studying in Canada.
- Ability to communicate in a respectful and interculturally informed manner that supports international students, stakeholders, and external partners.
- Knowledge of crisis and risk management and planning.
- Demonstrated ability to make decisions based on sound judgement with the ability to identify and resolve complex problems or emergency situations.
- Must have extensive knowledge of immigration policies impacting international students in Canada.
- Must have extensive knowledge of student retention policies and procedures.
