**Position Summary**

A POSTDOCTORAL position is available in the laboratory of Professor Hakem at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre/University Health Network, Toronto/Canada.

Our research program focuses on identifying cancer genetic risk factors and characterization of cancer cell signaling pathways and molecular oncology mechanisms. Our team is committed to discover novel therapeutic strategies to improve the outcome of patients with aggressive cancer types.

Cancer genetics, biochemistry, epigenetics, chromatin remodeling, multiomics, and genome-wide CRISPR-Cas9 screening are the pillars of our research program. Our multidisciplinary studies also involve mouse models, Patients derived xenografts, Patient derived organoids as well as analysis of cancer databases (e.g., TCGA). Using systems biology, multidisciplinary approaches, and our strong collaborations with scientists, clinicians, pathologists, medicinal chemists, and computational biologists, we work towards our long-term goal “contributing to better diagnosis and therapy for cancer patients”.

The Hakem lab has excellent track records studying cancer mechanisms, and related signaling pathways. Our studies have been published in excellent peer-reviewed journals including Science (DOI: 10.1126/science.1094557), Nature Communications (DOI: 10.1038/ncomms12638), the Journal of Clinical Investigation (DOI: 10.1172/JCI140105 and DOI: 10.1172/JCI120401) and Nucleic Acids Research (DOI: 10.1093/nar/gkad172).

**Qualifications**
- PhD degree obtained within the past 2 to 3 years.
- Strong publication record.
- Highly self-motivated, and creative individual who can work effectively both independently and as a member of a team.
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
