Toronto, Canada OCAD University Full time

**Project Details**

The Health Design Studio at OCADU works to bring an inclusive and interdisciplinary design approach to healthcare design challenges. Over the last 10 years, health system and service improvement using a co-design approach was rapidly adopted as a stakeholder engaged process for inclusive and effective change. Relying heavily on close engagement with people with lived experience of health needs as well as engagement with health providers, close engagement was interrupted by the pandemic. The ‘Recovery and Renewal of Participation in Healthcare Change’ project aims to identify practices that are resilient, new practices that hold promise for enabling co-design in health, and ways in which equity and inclusion can be enhanced. Learnings from this work will then contribute to recovery and change in the health sector post-pandemic through a community of practice with global reach.

The project aims to answer the following questions using a realist approach:

- How has co-design practice adapted and changed in response to COVID?
- What challenges were faced in making these adaptations?
- What resources are required to support these adaptations?
- What specific practices, resources, and tools support equitable engagement of impacted communities in co-design?
