We welcome those interested in this exciting time of growth Algoma University (Brampton campus) is seeking to hire a motivated and dynamic candidate to take on the full-time position of Post-Doctoral Fellow. The successful candidate will work on the research on “Climate Crisis and Migration” under the supervision of Dr. Nusrate Aziz, Associate Professor, at Algoma University. This Climate Crisis and Migration study seeks to examine the imperative for rigorous, evidence-based research to deepen the understanding of human mobility dynamics within the context of the climate crisis.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Research and Collaboration (100%) Collaborate with Dr. Nusrate Aziz to advance current research initiatives. Play a pivotal role in furthering shared interests in the climate crisis, climate action, and immigration.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Physical Effort Minimal Work activities require minimal periods of physical effort, requiring a variety of muscle movements with requirements for speed and coordination. Physical Environment Minimal Minimal exposure to unpleasant/disagreeable conditions. Sensory Attention Considerable Work requires a frequent need to concentrate on a variety of sensory inputs for a lengthy duration requiring diligence and attention. Considerable balance of competing priorities, and extreme attention to detail, are required. Mental Stress Considerable High-paced and deadline-driven environment, with frequent distractions and interruptions

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Ph.D. degree in economics from a recognized University, with a research focus on migration and climate action. Proficiency in time series and panel study methodologies. Strong ability to interpret scientific data and communicate complex ideas effectively. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Preference will be given to candidates proficient in Python and Stata software. Canadian citizenship or permanent residency, or valid Canadian work permit until July 2025.
