**Our Human Resources & Corporate Services Department is seeking a HR Systems Specialist who will support the human capital management system and act as a technical resource for system modifications and business process improvements.**

**You are: a self-motivated individual with good technical HCM knowledge and critical thinking skills. You enjoy collaborating within a team and a variety of clients to resolve current issues and identify opportunities for potential process efficiencies.**

**The HR Systems Specialist reports to the Lead, HR Systems & Analytics Specialist and falls within our Professional / Technical, Level P2 job family.**

**This role**:

- Performs complex technical and analytical work related to the systems needs of the Human Resources (HR) department and other users of HR systems throughout the organization.
- Investigates, analyzes, documents, and resolves problems and issues related to all HR systems and works closely with IT technical staff to log, design, test, implement and resolve complex system issues including desired functionality and unexpected results. Researches, analyzes and makes recommendations to resolve problems.
- Works with HR staff to assess system requirements for various business functions and processes. Identifies and analyzes solutions, and makes recommendations. Documents, analyzes and assesses a variety of information, identifies priorities and resources and proposes solutions.
- Evaluates business processes and makes recommendations to leverage system functionality. Creates complex data extracts and query reports tailored to the business needs of end-users. Enables and supports efficient processes and develops and designs system audits. Facilitates change management and collaborates with end users and various organizational stakeholders to identify and design Human Resources information and reporting requirements.
- Performs an integral role in system upgrades, implementations and other related projects. Plans, coordinates and develops detailed functional specifications for system enhancements, modifications, upgrades and customizations and works collaboratively as part of a team to test and verify the functionality of the entire system. Evaluates the costs and benefits of customizing the HR systems software and makes appropriate recommendations taking into account the long term maintenance impacts and the criticality of the business case of users.
- May be accountable for independently managing projects for system enhancements or process changes for entire components. Develops, implements and trains staff on new procedures and works to minimize reoccurring problems.
- Interprets collective agreement provisions and corporate policies and initiatives to develop, test and implement changes in the systems that meet the intent of the provisions or policies. Collaborates with a range of departments across the organization to provide reliable and consistent HR data that is used for internal and external benchmarking for consistent representation of Metro Vancouver.
- Develops comprehensive scripts for system tests and ensures processes perform according to pre-determined goals. Tests a wide variety of matters such as updates to foundation tables, changes to existing or new functionality and vendor delivered patches and fixes.
- Responsible for developing and implementing system security processes and procedures. Develops and implements controls and quality assurance processes to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of data. Configures, maintains and ensures accuracy of foundation tables used to drive major system components
- Performs other related duties as required.

**To be successful, you have**:

- 5 years of recent experience related to HR systems support including but not limited to PeopleSoft version (9.01 preferred) supplemented by a university degree or diploma in a relevant discipline such as business administration, human resources, information systems, or computer science; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of various HR systems software including (but not limited to) PeopleSoft HRIS (version 9.01 preferred) from a systems support perspective.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret complex collective agreements provisions and corporate policies and initiatives and develop and implement system processes that accurately capture the intent of the provisions and policies.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of human resources management principles from a systems support perspective including recruitment and selection, compensation, employee benefits and labour relations.
