The Dean of Students supports all students - undergraduate, and graduate - in the pursuit of academic and personal success. The Dean of Students collaborates with faculties, offices, and services across all campuses to deliver effective programming and provides leadership on university policies and initiatives. Following the University of Alberta's Discrimination, Harassment, and Duty to Accommodate policy, the Academic Success Centre coordinates academic accommodations for prospective and current students with documented disabilities affecting mobility, vision, hearing, learning, and physical or mental health. The provision of academic accommodations helps to remove structural barriers encountered by these students in academic environments in order to facilitate equivalent learning opportunities.

The Academic Success Centre administers the University of Alberta's Duty to Accommodate procedure for students and works with students, instructors, campus units, Faculties and departments, community and government agencies, and on and off-campus service providers to coordinate students' disability-related accommodation needs for participation in university programs. Our practices follow federal and provincial regulations regarding post-secondary accommodations and physical and mental disabilities as legally protected grounds. It is important to note that, while the term 'disability' is used in government policies that guide our work, we employ inclusive language and practices that focus on people and diverse abilities first.
