**Working for the Department/Faculty**

The Faculty of Agricultural, Life and Environmental Sciences (ALES) is looking for a dynamic, team-oriented animal health professional to support animal care and research activity in the Poultry Research Facility. ALES is made up of 500+ faculty and staff, 1700+ undergraduates and 600+ graduate students. ALES is focused on teaching, research & community service in its departments and schools: Agricultural, Food and Nutritional Science; Renewable Resources; Human Ecology; Resource Economics and Environmental Sociology. We have strong academic undergraduate and graduate programs, a large research infrastructure which includes 25,000 acres of farm & ranch land in key ecologies across Alberta, and high-impact research in collaboration with our partners.

**Position**

The Heritage Chicken Program (HCP) Coordinator, under the supervision of the Poultry Unit manager, will be involved in planning and coordinating various aspects, including the Adopt a Chicken program, Peavey Chick programs, promotional events, and collaborating on fundraising with members of the Heritage Chicken Committee.

**Duties**
- Work with Poultry Facility staff to prepare heritage eggs for supporters
- Candling and packaging eggs before each pickup
- Transporting eggs from candling facility to egg storage
- Handing out eggs to supporters during scheduled hours (every second week Jan-Sept)
- Coordinate customer service and communications
- Manage social media presence
- Provide website support, and update content as needed
- Assist with finding and exploring sponsorship/fundraising opportunities

**Minimum Qualification**
- High School Diploma; post-secondary education preferred
- Enthusiastic and willing to creatively develop the program
- Great interpersonal skills and ability to provide great customer service and positive interactions for the program supporters
- Innovative thinker with proven effective coordination experience
- Articulate and effective communicator
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office suite and social media
- General poultry and poultry industry knowledge to be able to educate program supporters

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Animal training focused on poultry production and handling, training in food safety
- Training/knowledge of On Farm Food Safety programs related to poultry production, including biosecurity
- General (FAPWC-Faculty Animal Policy & Welfare Committee & UAPWC-University Animal Policy & Welfare Committee) Part 1 and 2.
- First Aid training, WHMIS
- Fundraising experience
- WordPress, Shopify experience
