The organization is currently looking for Community Organizer for the running of its programs in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Job description
Potential applicants will be working in a variety of programs including networking within the community to create positive social impact, develop helpful programs, and enlist community support for causes and **act as resource persons for groups targeted**.

**Roles and Responsibilities**

The role has responsibility for Planning, directing, and monitoring variety of social programs and activities to maximize the use of the organization’s resources and programs with duties including:

- Contributing to building ties within the community by suggesting ways to reach out to the vulnerable or underserved population and targeted groups.
- Bringing together a group of individuals or organizations to achieve a common objective through collective action.
- Supporting the organization of our community events and meetings
- Networking with relevant groups and individuals to gather support for a certain cause and address community needs.
- Collaborating and negotiating with relevant businesses, institutions, and individuals to resolve community’s issues.
- Nurture community relations, communicate directly with the public, and develop campaigns to connect community members with the required resources.
- Use a variety of means to reach out to community members, such as digital tools, including social media platforms and traditional media.
- Give effective presentations to engage the community and clients.
- Recommend ways to solve community needs by gathering, analyzing, and presenting data.
- giving people the opportunity to participate in decisions that affect them and act.
- improving the community's capacity to access funds to ensure they can support their socio-economic projects.
- creating a platform for community members to create alliances that help with advocacy and technology expansion.
- assisting in the establishment of sustainable and permanent structures to manage the community's resources.

**Requirements**:

- Minimum of 2-year diploma in Sociology, Public Relations, or related field
- 1+ years of experience in community organizing.
- Hands-on experience in forming relationships amongst organizations, businesses, and communities.
- Direct experience with social rights, community development, social services, or a related field
- Working knowledge of social media and other online communication tools, such as Dropbox, Google Workspace, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Slack, Asana, and Trello
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, project planning, and time management skills
- Strong commitment to the organization's mission and goals
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

**Experience (type)**
- Minimum of 1 to 2 years of work experience social development environment including improvement programs and procedures.

**Knowledge or specific business understanding -**
- Strong technical background, able to provide leadership for the programs team.
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
- Analytical and conceptual skills
