**The Position**:
The Council and Family Engagement Coordinator is critically important to CLO. They will provide leadership and administrative support to boards and committees and oversee important initiatives. The Coordinator will take the lead in assisting Council and the Family Steering Committee in their advocacy initiatives. The Council of CLO consists of 12 self-advocates (volunteers) from across the province and works together with the CLO Board of Directors to find solutions and share knowledge on important issues.

**Responsibilities Include**:

- In collaboration with the Director, ensure self-advocates have an effective role in the governance of the organization. Provide direct support to people who have intellectual disabilities who sit on internal boards and committees
- Ensure the voice of Council is heard and valued throughout the organization
- Amplify the voices of people who have intellectual disabilities
- Provide direct support to Council members in conferences and meetings across Ontario.
- Coordinate arrangements for Council members and Family Committee members, including, booking accommodations, catering, registration, and travel
- Support effective communication between Council and its stakeholders via Council newsletters, meeting minutes, and board reports
- Assist in planning the weekend family leadership series and related events
- Engage with families throughout Ontario to expand the network and CLO’s outreach efforts. Identify opportunities for ongoing community engagements through collaborations with self-advocates, member organizations, family groups, and stakeholders
- Foster existing and building new relationships with self-advocates and other allies across the province of Ontario
- Promote campaigns and workshops for Council and families
- Establish, update, and maintain self-advocates and families’ contact lists
- Engage, build, and evaluate the Council and Family Committee network through webinars and outreach programs
- Establish and maintain organized, accessible electronic and manual filing systems
- Post-secondary degree or College diploma in Social Work, Administrative Studies or a combination of related education and experience
- Advanced computer skills - MS Office, Zoom, MS Teams, CRMs, and web-based document collaboration platforms
