What We Do:
We are advancing an exciting pipeline of neurology-focused therapies, with a focus on commercializing novel treatments for epilepsy. Building upon the positive results and compelling data from our XEN1101 Phase 2b “X-TOLE” study in adult patients with focal epilepsy, our XEN1101 Phase 3 program includes studies in adult patients with focal onset seizures and primary generalized tonic clonic seizures. In addition, XEN1101 is being evaluated as a treatment for major depressive disorder in both a company-sponsored Phase 2 clinical trial, as well as an investigator-led proof-of-concept study. Xenon's proprietary, pediatric formulation of ezogabine, XEN496, is being studied in a Phase 3 clinical trial in young patients with KCNQ2-DEE, a rare and severe form of childhood epilepsy. We are also proud of the leading-edge science coming out of our discovery labs, where many innovative, early-stage research programs are underway. In addition to these proprietary programs, our pipeline includes clinical-stage partnered programs with valued collaborators. About the Role:
We are seeking a Manager, Accounts Payable to join our Finance team. The Manager, Accounts Payable will be responsible for coordinating and directing the efforts of the accounts payable team, leading full-cycle accounts payable process, various reconciliations, expense processing, vendor management and communications as well as managing AP process improvements projects and initiatives. Additionally, the Manager, Accounts Payable will serve as one of the key liaisons for internal and external stakeholders, and be responsible for mentoring and coaching two direct reports.

This position reports to the Corporate Controller and will be located in the Vancouver, BC, Canada.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Lead full cycle accounts payable process, including review of invoice batches and expenses, for both purchase order invoices and other invoices (multi
- currency) in Microsoft Dynamics GP, as well as employee expense reimbursements and credit card reconciliations in SAP Concur
- Lead regular (bi-weekly) accounts payment run process (cheque, ACH and wire transfers), including review of payment batches
- Act as a key point of contact for AP related inquiries from internal stakeholders and external vendors and proactively identify causes, propose solutions and resolve issues in a timely manner; Manage accounts payable team to handle requests and queries, as required
- Support month-end, quarter-end, year-end close processes, and financial audits, including AP reconciliation, accruals and other AP reporting
- Manage new vendor setup and maintenance of vendor records
- Collaborate and liaise with Procurement team on various activities such as vendor maintenance and communication, 3-way match, process improvements, etc.
- Assist with forecasting of outgoing cash flows for treasury management
- Ensure the accurate recognition of sales taxes, particularly self-assessed PST and recoverable GST/HST, on processed transactions to support accurate recognition and recovery of taxes
- Propose, lead and/or participate in the design and implementation of new processes and procedures to yield greater accuracy and timeliness for the accounts payable process
- Ensure AP team’s adherence to internal controls over the accounts payable process
- Plan and manage budget proposals and approved budgets in accordance with the Company’s strategic and operating plans and Finance policies
- Recruit, lead, direct, develop, coach and evaluate direct reports, if any, in accordance with the Company’s Human Resource policies and practices
- Act in accordance with Company policies, including, for example, the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and ensure policies are understood and followed by direct reports, if any
- Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Minimum 7 years of full cycle AP experience in a high-volume environment, with at least 3 years in a supervisory/managerial role
- Bachelor’s Degree, Diploma or Certificate in Accounting
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, handling requests and inquiries in a professional, diplomatic, tactful and service-driven manner
