Purchasing Manager

**Overview**
The Purchasing Manager will lead purchasing of products and services, manage supplier relationships, act as the primary point of contact for business stakeholders, ensure on time delivery of products, and negotiate with suppliers for favorable price, quality, delivery, and payment terms. A combination of strong business acumen and leadership skills within an industrial manufacturing business environment along with the ability to foster long term internal and external partnership relationships are imperatives for the success of this role. This position reports to the General Manager in Oakville and will lead the Oakville and Orillia purchasing team.
As Purchasing Manager, you will work closely with Global Strategic Sourcing Director and General Managers in all our Manufacturing Plants as well as with the Production Team to work on cost savings measures.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Lead and mentor a team of purchasing professionals across Canada
- Source and procure ASME Materials as per customer specific requirements; monitor stock levels of all ASME specific components
- Maintain key working vendor/supplier relationships for raw materials, supplies, and capital equipment; negotiate optimal terms on pricing
- Work closely with Global Strategic Sourcing to execute supplier development and qualification as per Sourcing Strategy. Enable profitable growth and global reach.
- Lead supplier performance assessments, monitoring, and timely corrective actions
- Create and distribute reports pertaining to planned orders, released demands, shortages, schedule changes, inventory, and supplier payments
- Monitor business trends and product availability to optimize total landed cost without sacrificing quality or delivery times
- Work closely with manufacturing operations, engineering and quality organizations to execute on various supplier development projects
**Basic Requirements**:
- Minimum five (5) years of hands-on experience in leading purchasing for Engineer-to-order (ETO) manufacturing companies.
- Minimum five (3) years of successful team leadership experience.
- Experience using an MRP, and with material planning process.
- Demonstrated skills in negotiations and relationship building.
- Expertise in managing large and complex projects is required.

- Strong technical ability. Ability to understand and communicate technology and specifications to customers. Strong Supply Chain leader with additional knowledge in other areas such as manufacturing, engineering, R&D, business, and market development.
