Research and Faculty Support Worker
Full-time, Continuing

The Research and Faculty Support Officer works closely with the Vice President Academic and Research to
ensure that faculty are supported in their research and day to day jobs. This is done with a focus on
developing good relationships and communication, fostering belonging (EDI) within the institution. While
reporting to the VPAR, the Officer will work alongside the Institutional Research Office and Human
Resources to ensure that all reporting, government relations, and faculty career management is done in a
coordinated fashion.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**

Research Officer

- Work with the finance department to provide oversight of grants; co-manage faculty grant budgets

to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to research and grant management
- Complete reports for tri-council funding agencies and the Canada Research Chair program
- Be a member of the research ethics board and animal care committee
- Work alongside Institutional Research to ensure harmonized reporting processes.
- Perform other duties as require by the VPAR or head of Institutional Research (final accountability

to the VPAR).

Faculty Support Officer
- Support the VPAR and Faculty Deans by managing faculty specific human resource processes

(Hiring, advancement, promotion and Tenure, Faculty Senate Evaluation Committee).
- Support the VPAR and Faculty Deans by managing faculty concerns.
- Provide administrative support to Deans and the Human Resources department to ensure sessional
- instruction is managed well.
- Develop and maintain academic policies and procedures related to faculty employment and
- management not part of the collective agreement.
- Work alongside Human Resources to ensure harmonized reporting processes.
- Perform other duties as require by the VPAR or head of Human Resources (final accountability to

the VPAR).
- Belonging (EDI) champion
- Work to ensure research and faculty employment policies and plans are aligned with the ideals of
- the Belonging Framework (King’s EDI plan).
- Coordinate faculty to address issues of belonging in the curriculum.
- Help faculty become aware of challenges to belonging in the classroom by organizing training and
- information sessions.
- Be an advocate for Belonging in the institution.

- Be skilled at working efficiently to meet deadlines
- Understand the goals of EDI (belonging) within a university context
- Strong relational skills to navigate faculty dynamics
- Relate well to government departments for reporting and management purposes
- Enjoys making things run well for others.
- Ability to work outside normal work hours as needed.

The King’s University follows a standardized salary grid. The salary range is $63,000 - $80,154/yr dependent
on qualifications and experience. A comprehensive benefit package, pension, and generous vacation and
