Position Summary:
Reporting to the Associate Director, Affinity & Engagement Services, the Alumni Relations Officer works closely with Advancement and Faculty-based partners in the development of overall strategies and the execution of special events and other engagement initiatives in key regions, to encourage and seek philanthropic support for McGill.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Participate in overall strategy development regarding the delivery of engagement services to University Advancement and Faculty-based colleagues to target cohorts in priority geographic regions.- Provide a liaison function between Alumni Relations and other UA, Faculty-based and external entities for the delivery of engagement services to alumni in priority geographic regions.- Independently manage events; lead the implementation and execution of anchor events, ensure recognition, acknowledgement and stewardship programs are in place when appropriate and advise UA and Faculty-based colleagues, as needed, on how to implement/execute events and ensure they are aligned with AR/UA objectives.- Manage events on-site to ensure they function seamlessly.- Develop, establish and maintain quality working relationships with a variety of service providers and McGill colleagues.- Organize the development of communication plans, programs and related materials for events consistent with branding and visual guidelines, and quality standards.- Ensure appropriate follow-up is provided after all events; distribution of thank-yous, attendee feedback, and post mortem completion.-
- Participate in the development and implementation of new initiatives that support UA’s strategic direction by keeping abreast of new developments and trends in the field of engagement opportunities.- Develop and maintain effective administrative processes for UA events to ensure best practice budgeting, management of data obtained via events, post-event follow up, etc.- Establish and maintain budget for the events- Directly supervise support staff to assist in the daily administrative operations of alumni engagement services.- Supervise, students, casuals and external contract workers as needed- Identify, recruit, train, orient and manage volunteers to assist in engagement service initiatives.- Undertake special projects as required.

Qualifying Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated experience with event management and the ability to organize large events from inception to delivery, preferably in an academic environment. Experience and proficiency negotiating vendor agreements.- Ability to network, and to develop and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers and internal departments.- Demonstrated professionalism and discretion. Ability to create a base of contacts including a variety of service providers.- Proven ability to work under tight deadlines and to manage multiple priorities.- Ability to anticipate possible difficulties, troubleshoot and implement solutions.- Supervisory experience and ability to build effective teams.-
- Knowledge of Zoom, WebEx and GoToWebinar, an asset.- Must be able to work evenings and weekends, as required.- English and French, spoken and written.
- Minimum Education and Experience:

- Bachelor's Degree 3 Years Related Experience /
