Position Summary:
Under the general direction of the Director Development, Faculty of Education the incumbent is responsible for securing Special and Major Gifts ($25k-$99k) for the Faculty, developing and managing a portfolio of prospects, developing and building relationships with alumni around professional and social networks, and building and managing a network of fundraising volunteers. The incumbent’s role is also responsible for the implementation of short and long-term plans of Faculty Advancement objectives: alumni relations, annual giving and stewardship programs within the development unit and across the Faculty. The incumbent works in close collaboration with colleagues in the central University Advancement Office and other Faculty-based fundraising operations.

Primary Responsibilities:
Development (50%)- Manage a personal portfolio of prospects and donors for the Faculty. Encourage and seek philanthropic support for McGill. Formulate, recommend and implement cultivation, engagement, solicitation and stewardship strategies to secure gifts from the prospects portfolio, including McGill Annual Fund and Leadership Gifts- Develop an in depth understanding of the Faculty’s key fundraising priorities and promote these priorities effectively to prospects.- Identify, cultivate and solicit prospects capable of contributing gifts to Faculty and University priorities. Through personal visits, identify and qualify individuals to determine capacity, inclination and interests in providing support to the Faculty. Evaluate and recommend appropriate next steps for newly qualified potential donors and current donors.- Identify, recruit, train and manage a network of volunteers to assist with fundraising and alumni relations activities. Maintain close communication and act as a Faculty liaison with volunteers.- Participate actively in McGill University Advancements events as part of an integrated approach to prospect identification, cultivation and stewardship.- Participate in Prospect Management System; file timely and appropriate contact reports, recording of proposals, etc.

Advancement (50%)- Plan, manage and oversee the full spectrum of Faculty advancement activities, including donor qualifications and solicitations for the Faculty of Education’s Annual Fund Leadership gifts.- Partner with the central Annual Giving Class and Affinity Reunion Giving Officer to manage the Faculty’s RCG program.- Engage leadership level annual fund donors through group and personalized activities in order to move them through the giving pipeline.- Working in collaboration with Central Alumni Relations, lead the planning and development of ongoing alumni relations programs and events within the Faculty including the organization of the Faculty’s involvement in Homecoming events, as well as cultivation and donor relations events.- Identify, recruit, train and manage network of Faculty-based volunteers to assist with alumni engagement and fundraising activities. - meetings.- In conjunction with central Donor Relations, manage Stewardship Programs for the Faculty including Leadership Level annual fund donors. Utilize the Stewardship Profile to plan, track, and document stewardship tasks and occurrences, consistent with University-wide standards.- Develop, manage and oversee the donor acknowledgement and recognition programs and strategies, ensuring timely and appropriate acknowledgements and regular refresh of content and assess, if the programs being implemented meet the needs of the donors, in collaboration with the Central Donor Relations team.- Undertake special projects as assigned to deepen donor engagement and strengthen relationships between the University’s top donors and prospects and McGill.

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities- Three or more years of direct fundraising experience with a proven track record of success in the cultivation, solicitation, and closing of gifts in an academic/higher education setting, health care sector, non-profit or in business development in the private sector.- Proven track record of successful project and relationship management.- Results driven, a self-starter, and highly motivated with a demonstrated ability to build const
