Operations Manager

Oil City Signs and its associated companies are seeking a skilled and experienced Operations Manager to lead and oversee the day-to-day operations of our business. As the Operations Manager, you will play a critical role in coordinating the various aspects of digital printing and sign manufacturing. This role reports to the CEO and is focused on optimizing production workflows, managing people, resource management, and quality assurance.
**Responsibilities**
Production Management
- Coordinate and manage all aspects of the digital printing and sign manufacturing processes, from estimating and design, to production and installation.
- Create and implement production schedules, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and workflow improvements, implementing best practices to enhance overall efficiency.
- Monitor and manage production costs to ensure the company operates within budgetary constraints.
Managing People
- Recruit, train, and supervise a team of production staff and sign technicians.
- Assign tasks, set performance goals, and conduct performance evaluations to enhance team performance and productivity.
- Foster a positive work environment, encouraging teamwork and collaboration.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and best practices to create a safe working environment for all employees.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness and implement safety training programs.
Resource Management
- Manage inventory and sourcing of materials to meet customer and staff demands.
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of production equipment to ensure optimal performance and mínimal downtime.
- Coordinate with external vendors for servicing and repairs as needed.
Quality Assurance and Client Service
- Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure that all sign products meet or exceed industry standards and client expectations.
- Conduct regular inspections and quality checks to identify and address any defects or issues in the manufacturing process.
- Collaborate with the sales and customer service teams to understand client requirements and expectations.
- Address client inquiries, concerns, and feedback promptly and professionally.
**Qualifications**
- Degree or diploma in business management, marketing, or a related field (preferred).
- Technically savvy in the industry, with at least 3 years within the sign and digital print experience, and at least 1 year of people management / supervisory experience.
- Exhibit adeptness with industry-specific technology, notably a proficient grasp of RIP software (e.g. FlexiSIGN, Production Manager, RasterLink)
- Showcase a robust command over essential design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Corel Draw, and potentially CNC Routing Software, complemented by proficiency in handling associated file formats (AI, EPS, vector, DWG)
- Demonstrate desirable expertise in the technical aspects of large format printers, digital printers, and related equipment.
- Strong knowledge of sign production processes, materials, equipment, and software.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
- Proficiency in using small business tools for project management and accounting (such as Trello and QuickBooks).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on continuous improvement and quality control.
- Must be able to work under pressure and available to work occasional evenings and weekends.
