**The Opportunity**

The City of St. Albert is recruiting for a Supervisor, Waste & Diversion Operations to join our Public Operations Department. Reporting to the Manager, Transportation Operations & Waste Management this position will be responsible for the coordination, communication, monitoring and reporting of the City’s waste and diversion programs.

This position will work closely with the Operations Manager to establish goals and objectives for the branch and to plan, develop and monitor operating and capital budgets. The incumbent will administer, monitor and report on all aspects of the residential waste and diversion programs as well as ongoing analysis, reporting and recommendations regarding the efficiency of the waste and diversion program including routing and collection methodology.

In addition, this position oversees the operations and staff responsible for the residential automated garbage collection program and the City’s Recycling and Compost Depots. As well this position manages the external contracts for the curbside organic and recycling programs. This position will also be the key contact for the public and media to respond to inquiries, acting as a representative for the City of St. Albert on regional initiatives and provide waste diversion education to residential, commercial and institutional sectors.

**Qualifications**
- A related degree in Environmental Science, Business or Engineering and minimum of 3 years related experience in the areas of solid waste management, environmental programs and contract administration.
- A technical diploma in engineering technology or environmental science may be considered with a minimum 5 years of related experience. An equivalent combination of education and directly related experience may be considered.
- Experience supervising people as well as leading projects and public engagement activities.
- Certifications from Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) is an asset
- Level 3 Public Works Supervisor certification will be considered an asset.
- Highly developed program, project and financial management skills.
- Understanding of regulatory framework (both from an OH&S and Environmental perspective) within municipal utilities operations.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, and the ability to learn new technology as required.
- A Class 5 Drivers License is required.

**Hours of Work**

We offer a compressed work schedule of 72 hours bi-weekly (Monday - Friday, with a regular day off [RDO] every two weeks). The position requires the ability to work extended hours on occasion to complete special requests or projects, coordinate/participate in evening and off-hours meetings, and respond to emergencies.

**Compensation**

$88,994 - $109,530 per annum. In addition, the City of St. Albert offers a generous and comprehensive flexible benefit package.
